OK, so I recently got a pair of these after hearing some good things about them here to put on my road bike. They are very nice looking bars, but being one piece, the width is basically fixed (unless I’m missing something).
Everyone talks about the taper problem on 31.8 drop bars which is what I have, but these bars are so narrow that’s not an issue - they have to basically do right up against my stem.
The good part of this is that there’s no taper issue. The bad part is that that part of the bar is wider than 31.8, so the clamps don’t fully meet the bar.
I’ve screwed them in as tight as I can get them. Should I worry about this. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I’d like to get in a more aero position on my current bike. Yes, I know that’s a compromise and if $2k dropped in my lap I would cancel this post and go buy some decent Cervelo. But that hasn’t happened yet.
It seems like putting clip-ons on a 31.8 bar is a big issue. Is there a good solution? I also have a pair of Profile design split seconds. my LBS put these little rubber strips in there to address the taper issue, but those bars have the spring loaded arm rests that I’m not crazy about.
