just wandering how many people use non-factory insoles in their cycling shoes?
i recently switched from the basic specialized road shoe(pretty comfy) to a pair of pearl izumi try fly VI’s. i love the tri fly’s so far(i did a 2.5 hour training ride a few days ago and a 4.5 hour ride today). my feet felt fine after the 2.5 hour training rides but had some discomfort after the 4.5 ride today.
wondering if:
1)the shoes are still in a “break-in” period and the 2 hr jump was a bit much?
2)try using the insoles from my old shoes?
3) buy a different insole all together?
I put super feet in all my bike shoes and actually take a set to the store when I buy new shoes- the blue are in my latest pair and I feel they make a big difference for me hope this helps
.
I use the green Super Feet in my cycling (Louis Garneau Tri-lites) and running (Newtons) shoes. Been doing this for 10 years, with no complaints. Tried going back to the standard insoles that came with the shoes during this time, but, I went back to the Super Feet when things didn’t feel right.
as others have said, i TYPICALLY use Super Feet in all of my cycling shoes.
i say typically because i just picked up a pair of Giro Prolight SLX road shoes.
they included so many different insoles that there was no need to use the Super Feet.
try using your old insoles before you give up on the new shoes!
thanks for the advice! i’m definitely not ditching the shoes, the felt great during the 2.5 hour ride i did earlier this week. looks like i’ll be adding superfeet insoles
