Input: 6hrs drive the day before a marathon?

Would it change anything of the performance?

It may not be optimal but I didn’t find my 7-8 hour drive to a trail marathon to much of an issue as we had made several stops and walked around checking a few small towns out along the way.

Now the 5 hour drive straight home (took a more direct route home) an hour after finishing the trail marathon was a different story and a very bad idea.

x2 on the driving straight home after a hard race. Bad idea. If you have to, some compression tights might help.

Drove 5 hours from to Redman this past Friday. No problem. My wife drove me home today and that was fine as well. I wouldn’t have wanted to be in the car last night after the race though.

Don’t think twice about it. Just focus on the race and hit your splits.

Something you may want to think about is stopping at a rest area somewhere near the 1/2 way pt & getting in a 2mi jog w/ a few pick-ups. You’ll be surprised at how just a couple miles can make you feel 1,000x better on those long rides.

Just my $.02.

No race impact at all. I’ve done it a number of times. If you drink enough fluid you’ll be stopping regularly to stretch the legs out which is a good thing.
