I took 2 days completely off post IMMD and swam the 3rd day. I biked easy on 4th and ran 3 miles easy. I did the same 5th day. I ran 6 miles easy on 6th day. I didn’t have any problems just a little sluggish. However, the last two days I noticed some knee pain on the inside above the knee cap. Almost where the quad muscle attaches to knee but more on the inside. I obviously should have taken it more easy post IM. But I was following what I did last time I raced an IM. It hurts really bad when doing a quad stretch. Is the a quad strain or meniscus strain? I never had knew pain before. This is my 4th year doing triathlons.
Sounds like insertional quadriceps tendonitis aka your knees are saying what the F! are you trying to do you just had me so an ironman. Sure meniscus would be on the differential but you have just traumatized the entire body no way of knowing without an exam or more information what is going on. Be okay with letting fitness go and fully recovering. Redemption racing/training after an Ironman usually doesn’t turn out well.
happens to me after every IM. surely biomechanical in my case. mine goes away in a few weeks without running.
I’m still feeling some tightness after running. It doesn’t hurt but something is tight in the medial side of the knee. Maybe I should begin stretching again? I noticed since I stopped stretching I’ve been getting injured.
