Indoor Swimming - Coughing Fits in Workouts?

Swim indoors in UK and during the summer have had a lot more irritation during long sets. No problem through the winter. As workout goes on, some of the sets end in pretty heavy amount of coughing. Many others in the pool have same issues with this and we just kind of plow through. My guess is it is just due to the chlorine which the pool people probably increase during this time of higher use by families and with the higher temp it just kind of floats around the pool more. I am checking with the Slowtwitch group, especially those in the north if you have similar, seasonal type issues at your indoor pools and if you have tried/found anything to ease the coughing (e.g. benadryl, robitussin, etc.). A couple of the kids are having some real struggles with this as well. Thanks for any help.

yes, it’s the chlorine.

Cough drops during workout might help. Robitussin before or after; NOT benadryl as you’d fall asleep mid-flip turn.

Not sure what helps, just know I have major issues with coughing and asthma when swimming, especially in August. I think they increase the chlorine a lot, and the heat and humidity and lack of ventilation in the indoor pool do not help.
