Indoor runs and WKO+

Hey all-

Weather here has deteriorated recently, and I’ve done a few indoor runs. I purchased WKO+ last spring, so, of course, I was going to load up my run data in it.

The run data I was collecting was using the Garmin footpod and a forerunner 305, operating in “record every second” mode, which you need in order to get the rTSS, etc.

However, I now recognize that the footpod-based data aren’t really compatible with this when recorded every second. You get data that appear to be very fast (e.g., under 30 s per mile) for many of the seconds and data that appear very slow for many other seconds, and very little data right around where you were actually running. In the smart recording mode, or with some averaging, everything comes out fine…but obviously the rTSS computation is screwed up by having many seconds apparently very fast and many seconds apparently very slow. (And, smart-recording, as I understand it, also doesn’t give meaningful rTSS.)

Does anyone know a workaround for this? Is there a way to “pre-average” the indoor running data?

Thanks!

I just enter the workout manually. not optimal for non steady state workouts but its better than nothing.

have you contacted WKO because I would be curious to what they say since I use the footpod both outdoors and indoors because of cadence
.

What a novel idea… actually asking them! No I haven’t yet. Will do.

However, for outdoor, as long as you’re picking up the distance via GPS, the velocity noise won’t be there. You can still pick up the cadence (only) by the footpod I am pretty sure, though I haven’t done that myself for a while.

excellent, please let me know what they say, but for right now or if I run on the mil without the garmin I just manually add the time and distance.
