I will be in Chicago for a week - I am looking for indoor pool with a lap swimming. I am staying in a hotel near the Grant Park.
If you are a member of Ballys, the River City location in the South Loop has a lap pool.
Not sure how you’d get in, but Fitness Formula Club on Jackson/Canal has one.
Same goes for University of Illinois at Chicago down on Halsted/Roosevelt or so.

I will consider this option. Any open water swimming groups there? What is the best place to jump into the lake?
Lake is going to be pretty empty this time of year.
Technically it’s ‘closed’ b/c there are no lifeguards anymore, but it’s also not a true open-water swim. I still go out all the time.
You get in at Ohio Street Beach, Ohio & LakeShoreDrive.
Like I said, I know FFC has a pool & so does UIC. I’m not positive who else does in the loop.
Moody Bible Institute in River North has a nice lap pool, so does Presidential Towers & Equinox. You’d have to look into these though, I don’t know how you’d get in.
Might be able to talk your way into a few ‘guest’ passes tho.
My gym is up in Lincoln Park, but we have a pool up there too.
I think the Westin on Michigan Ave. by the Hancock has a lap pool.

Check out swimmer’s guide.com as that usually provides a decent comparison of available pools.
Can you actually swim at University of Illinois Chicago as a member of the public? Do they have 50 meter or 50 yard pool?
There is a masters program at UIC, with lots of practices and open lap swims, and it’s only a 10 or 15 walk from a stop on the El. Based upon a sample of n = 1, they are pretty good hosts to visiting swimmers. You might also end up swimming with an Olympic medalist in the 1500 free or an Iraqi war hero. If you google something like masters swimming chicago, you can track their site, contact info and practice times down fairly easily.

don’t know their policy with ‘guests’, but have heard from many they are quite a friendly bunch.
they swim at uic & moody bible alternately. id check their website for the schedule, and maybe give them a call & see if they’ll sneak you in.
Lakeshore Athletic Club at Illinois Center (just north of Grant Park) has an indoor pool that is 23.5 yards. You can purchase daily “guest” passes or maybe swing a deal for a week. They have Masters Swim group that meets a few mornings a week from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM as well.
Thank you all for input. I went today to Ballys at 800 South Wells St., as a guest, received a free entry for a week fom manager, whom I have met the day before. It is a great pool, just 10 minutes walk. Wanted to check also Hilton’s pool (just 2 minutes walk from my hotel), but it is for Hilton’s guest only, I am not sure how strictly they are checking Id’s of those entering.
