I’m looking for a triathlon team in Indiana. Currently, I am located in Bloomington and going to IU.

Both T3 Multisport and the Runners Forum stores have teams in Indianapolis. Not sure about teams outside the city though. I know there are some out there, just not sure how you would find them.

The Bicycle Garage on Kirkwood would be a good place to start…I know a lot of triathletes out of that shop. I am unaware of any specific team in Bloomington though. Bloomington Velo News blog is another resource to check out.

And I love BVN but it’s not exactly the most useful resource around. haha

Currently, I am the VP of the IU Cycling Club and a full time student so I really don’t have the time to start my own club.
I know IU has had a tri team before but it died out a few years back.

I am not sure of any triathlon teams that will pay for entry fees - especially ones here in Indiana. The biggest benefits from local triathlon teams is group workouts and discounts at sponsoring companies.
We do have a quite a few elite AGers, however, I don’t know of any full-time pros that are members of local teams or even train in Indiana.
Depending on what you are trying to get from being a member of a team, one of the national-level elite teams may be the best bet (Rev3, KSwiss, Timex, etc) but I believe most of these rosters are already filled.
Go Little 5! There are quite a few folks scattered around ST that have ridden. You’re looking for cycling-team style benefits out of a tri club/team. Good luck with that. As others have said, your big-name sponsored teams are typically as close as you get there. Mostly what you’ll find are gear discounts, group workouts and camaraderie. Talk to the Morris Trucking guys if their team is still around & convince them to start a tri team.
You’d be good to check out the Runner’s Forum team for your elite Indy talent. Smitty, Forsee, Bondurant amongst others. Good group of people, even if you’re not right down the street. Good guys to learn from. There’s another tri club I think based out of Terre Haute (maybe Shark?) but not sure of the talent levels. Circle City was a good option for a club with some sponsorships from the shops (again, discounts) but nothing along what you’re looking for actually exists in the state. If you go south towards Evansville/Louisville, you might find other good teams that have solid athletes.
They are teams/clubs in Louisville, TH, Evansville, Lexington… As well as, as new group starting up out of Columbus, IN thru the local Y… Check out the website for the Mideast Region of USAT… As they will help point you in a club/team direction, as well as, the collegiate groups. Currently, the ME Region has over 78 USAT registered clubs, including collegiate… Also, the Baxter YMCA, southside Indy has a tri club, the Baxter Tornado’s (named after the tornado that damaged the Y in 05)… I workout with them at times… You can also start doing a FB search, as there are alot of clubs/teams on FB now…
