Does anyone know of any triathlon shops in Indiana? If you have their website link, please post. Which is the best?
Here in Indy I recommend A1cyclery. www.a1cyclery.com
The owner, Chris Wiggins, is extremely helpful, FIST certified and will NOT oversell you anything that you don’t need. Call him up and talk with Dolph or Chris. The website is not all inclusive. He has all of the fancy aero and carbon gear/bikes/wheels/helmets and desoto/blue70 wetsuits.
Where in IN are you? The best was the now out of business Carmel Cycling.
There is a new place on the northside of indianapolis that my bike fitter is opening : http://www.t3multisport.com/
It woudl be worth checking out, especially if you need a bike fit.
i second A1 Cyclery.
A1 is really good as stated.
Is T3 the store going in where bikewave was?
Hello,
I wanted to reply, but I think having great friends, and customers kind of speaks for itself. I consider myself very lucky to be in that position. I will say that I think we do what we do very well. I welcome you to stop by and check it out for yourself.
Best,
Chris Wiggins

Yea, where bikewave was. I miss Indy…what an awesome tri town.
Bikewave is gone? 86th and Ditch. I was right next to the store getting a haircut on Tuesday and did not notice a change. Do you mean Bikeline in Carmel?
I assume we are talking about Vern Lemare when talking about an Indy area bike fitter. I had a fitting with Vern a few years ago. I ended up migrating back towards my old fit and then back towards his fitting in the ensuing years. I think it is always a moving target anyways.
Also, the A-1 Store seems to be a very good store. I bought a jersey there last summer. The staff was nice and the bike selection looked very good.
Anyone planning to do the IRS TT series? What about any Tuxbro tri races? Huntington Open Water Mile? DINO mtb or Xterra races? Etc.

The new place is taking over BikeWave or replacing it, etc. This is being done by a local bike fitter and athlete tester (VO2, etc) who is supposed to be excellent. There will be testing and fitting there.
I have not been to A1 in years (long before I duo’d or Tri’d) and they were very nice. It was not my regular LBS mainly as it is far away from me.
Runners Forum in Carmel is a good tri shop, but has no bike stuff (bikes, bike shoes). They have wetsuits, tri suits, and running gear. They are great as well. Truth is most everyone in the running or biking or tri shop business are great people. They do it for the love.
So Indy is a good tri town? I would not have guessed that. I mean, we do have 3-6 sprints locally. I would not say we are bad, but I would also not say we would be that good.
I think a lot has changed in the past few years. Runners forum used to have nothing tri (as I remember). Tri bikes were harder to find. I think things things have come a long way. I think the new shop will help as well.
It sounds like A1 has been ahead of the curve for a while.

I know Dan has already put in a second vote for A-1 Cyclery, but I agree with jamiej and Dan on A-1 Cyclery, all the way. Chris and his team worked very well with individuals I have sent their way. I work in the Fitness Center at NIFS, here in Indy part-time, and I have a lot of new and beginner triathletes always asking where to go and who to see about their cycling and multisport needs. I tell’ em see Chris at A-1 Cyclery and tell Chris I sent ya. Their feedback has always been positive and they were very impressed with the time and effort that Chris and his team gave them. Chris is FIST certified, as I am also, and we missed going to Dan’s together, by one session. But we still know and understand the needs of the multisport athlete when it comes to top of the line equipment for racing and training. I am looking forward to Chris and A-1 helping NIFS this year with our 3rd tri-training program.
Excellent work to Chris and his A-1 Team!

Thanks guys…really.
Thanks guys. Looks like I might make the 100 mile trip to Indy tomorrow and meet Chris. Chris I’m looking for a wetsuit and possibly getting my bike fit better. Do you have any wetsuit on sale and what’s the cost for being fitted?
I think you’ve already talked to Dolph, and I look forward to meeting you.
Thanks
I must say I was extremely impressed with A-1 Cycling today! Thank you for the recommendation. I was able to purchase a DeSoto First Wave Wetsuit and drool over the new Cervelo’s and Felt’s that he has in stock (might be worth a road trip if you can’t find a Cervelo in stock). His prices are very reasonable and much cheaper than the Lafayette area. Chris is extremely knowledgeable and was able to answer numerous questions about gear and spent an enormous amount of time helping me individually. A-1 cycling became my new (FAR away) LBS today - Thanks again Chris!
I’ll be doing the IRS TT series again.

I now know who you are - you have passed by me (as a blur) at least once n a TT.
I will not be doing the first TT this year due to Spring Break.
I will do more than one this summer. I really want to go under one hour.
