In case you don't believe in evolution

You know, like some kooky people don’t “believe” in gravity either, because for them evidence is irrelevant.

But for those that value evidence, here you go, evolution at breakneck speed:

Meanwhile, cats couldn’t be bothered…

Also: some performance enhanced humans

Some Non evolution people do believe in adaptation… evolution is more of a drastic change to environment

What is “adaptation” in this context? Are you one of these folks? Can you elaborate?

Adaptation is a physical change over generations in response to a pressure in the organism’s environment. Bird beaks.

[ If you dig this sort of thing, ‘The Beak of the Finch’ is truly an intriguing and entertaining read ! ]

Evolution itself is the formation of a new species from another, genetically unable to breed with it’s immediate ancestor. Chimps to humans.

Nutters who can’t comprehend basic concepts say that we “do not have proof” of evolution. , because we were not alive to physically witness and document it, in - progress.

They are unable to understand DNA, as most children easily do when we explain it to them, and that it is proof.

They of course don’t truly think any of this is true. They just enjoy saying controversial things to make people angry. They never grew out of their thirteen-year old, edge - lord "…it’s not just a PHASE, MOM !!!" stage.

Not to be paid attention to, or waste time on.

[ Not implying anyone above or below is in this group !! :slightly_smiling_face: Sincerely !! ]

Not really. It’s a change in characteristics passed down over generations. It doesn’t necessarily indicate a new species.

Even more basic, it’s a change in gene frequencies generation to generation.

My understanding is many creationists have given up on what they call micro evolution because the evidence is just too overwhelming. So they’ll concede “adaptations” as mentioned above or something like wolves evolving into dogs occurs but then hold out that there are different “kinds” of animals that for some reason are confined to thei type. So for instance something like a dog couldn’t evolve from a cat, or more to the point, a human couldn’t evolve from an ape.

Adaptation also generally refers to beneficial change - as in “adapting to your environment”. Evolution includes adaptation but it is a superset.

According to Mr Webster:

Evolution: a descent with modification from preexisting species : cumulative inherited change in a population of organisms through time leading to the appearance of new forms : the process by which new species or populations of living things develop from preexisting forms through successive generations.

Or reduction / loss of them. Darwin mentioned the human appendix as an example.

Via Google AI search:

" The appendix, while once thought to be vestigial, is now understood to have important functions in supporting gut health and the immune system. It may serve as a reservoir for beneficial gut bacteria and help repopulate the gut after infections or antibiotic treatment. The appendix also plays a role in developing immunity, especially in early life."

If only they evolutionized their kidneys…

Fair, but it is still believed it had more function in the past.

Other examples: flightless birds (greatly reduced wings like kiwis) or snakes (ancestors had legs).
