IMWC Mont Trmblant 70.3 ELEVATION

Just so happens, I had an athlete spending the winter down there, and did numerous group rides on that climb on Mondays.

It’s roughly .8km @ 8%, a bit too long, but still would be good practice!!!

I’m not very near Clermont, but was just using Sugarloaf as a point of reference since I didn’t have any significant trouble with it the once or twice I’ve ascended it.

I guess my best bet is still to try out 10% on the Computrainer.

Use Erg mode and do repeated 2’ intervals of 1’ seated at 70-80 RPM + 1’ standing at 60-70 RPM. You will want to perform these at > 3.5 W/kg if 34/28 is your easiest gear or > 4 W/kg if your easiest gear is 39/25.

Hey, thanks! That should be very helpful. Now all I need to do is count up the teeth on my cassette and chainring.

The hills on Duplessis are steep but short, however, unless you have a triple you will be standing at several points. You just want to make sure that your gearing is easy enough that you can maintain decent RPMs without going too deep over your threshold power. Just make sure you do seated and standing low RPM work on the CT and you will be fine.

If you have a computrainer I can send you a crs file of the Duplessis section by itself.
They have an Oly every year which is 2x that climb.

Perfect! I just sent you a PM.
