IMLP Looks Like We Might Get Some Rain

Forecast is looking pretty crusty…just picked up a rain vest for 9 bucks hopefully I don’t have to use it. Damn weather!!!

The Adirondack Region of Northern New York.Standard Weather.

LP weather is very fickle.

I wouldn’t trust a forecast more than 1 day out from experience.
Sure it might rain but there’s no way to tell at this point.

awesome. Please rain. Please.

WEren’t you there last year when you signed up?! That was crazy…they raced the whole day in heavy rain.

But since I’m doing it, weather will be good, no worries!

Got dropped off on the greyhound 2 miles outside of town and walked in in the pouring rain whle most of the athletes were on the run. All the athletes that competed last year are fuckin BEASTS!!! Slept outside that night by a generator and some how didn’t get rained on. Somehow the next day it was absolutely beautiful. Fly out on Thursday can’t wait to get my Ironman on!!!

If it rains on the run and clear up, get ready for sauna time on River Road. If it rains all day, well, we have a repeat of 2008

But since I’m doing it, weather will be good, no worries!

But since I’m NOT doing it, weather WILL be good, NO worries!

(Seriously, I did LP last year, and, I think I am cursed …)

Mid 70’s with scattered storms doesn’t sound all that bad. I dont know if my tent can handle rain, so I am hoping for a nice, dry weekend as well.

Well you seem to be ahead of many other triathletes, who invariably show up for big races ill-prepared with the right apparel to deal with foul weather. Why is that?

A good tight fitting full zip wind/rain vest should be in every cyclists and triathletes kit bag along with arm warmers and knee warmers.

If it rains at LP, here is some advice: Keep your shoes ON after the bike. People were leaving their cycling shoes clipped on the bike and running to the transition tent. It was pure mud. They had mud-caked feet trying to get into running shoes.

I kept my cycling shoes on. My cycling shoes were a mess, but, my feet were clean going into my socks and running shoes.

Just my 2 cents.

great point!!!

I like your style…thanks for the info:)

Hey SS,I’m delaying the start of my cross-Oz bike trip for two reasons. The first is to watch the end of the TdF and the other is to follow your first Ironman. After all the smack-talk a few months ago it will be interesting and I hope you have a great day.

Have fun out there.

YOU’RE cursed? I did LP last year= RAIN. I did IMCDA this year= RAIN (on the run only at least, but it was frickin’ freezing!)

Good reminder Fleck. Costs nothing to put those items in your bag however has potential to cause lots of misery if forgotten.

I did IMLP last year in the pouring rain. This year I’ll be in 100 degree Boise watching the race on the computer. I’d rather be in LP in the pouring rain then sitting here watching it on the computer.

No worries.

If it looks like rain - be ready for rain, both mentally and physically. It’s not that big a deal.

Mid 70’s and rain is shorts and bike shirt weather! Sounds perfect to me!
