IMLP Kona slots

Any news on allocation and rolldowns?

40 to 44 had three slots.

Anyone know mens 35-39? How many slots? Rolldown?

40 to 44 had three slots.

The 3rd place finisher must not had realize that “tri” means three as he swam 2:08s. Luckily for him (if he took it) 3 K spots.

Yes Josh took it.
He bike/ ran it down. little bit faster swim or just a couple minutes faster in transition he would have ran himself in the first place in that age group. Believe he still had the fastest run and bike split.

Crazy fun to watch!

THIS. Exactly.

Somebody here once said ,
“if you want to be a fast rider or runner, all you need is time.
If you want to be a fast swimmer, all you need is a time machine.”

For all of us who don’t have a time machine, so we can travel back to when we were kids and join swim team for a decade or so, Josh Beck is our idol.

Just goes to show, there are lots of ways to get from Point A to point B pretty rapidly.

incase anyone else is a lazy reader like me notice the 208s so that is like a 1:22 split not 2 hours.

I didn’t stick around for the roll down, but at least one slot in M35-39 would have rolled down. I already had a slot to Kona.

I know 5th got a spot, so there were two roll down. I don’t know, but I assume it didn’t go any further. Congratulations on your race, very impressive!

Haha! I always have to represent the 2/3s triathletes out there! Not ashamed to say I am NOT a swimmer. It just doesn’t light me up. But fortunately there are a few more hours to go after that swim and I clawed my way back into the game. Here’s the kicker too, my real bike time was 7 minutes faster :). The poor volunteers couldn’t find my special needs bag so I had a nice break there until they found it. Oh well, I snuck in with 3rd place and I’m happy to get the whole family to Kona again and swim one more time lol.

Josh, the swimming I can understand, but what gives with the transitions?

Your transitions were 12:57

2nd place guy just 0:22 ahead of you spent 06:15 in transition.
Winner who was 3:30 ahead of you spent 07:22 in transition.

Just a little bit of get-up-and-go during transitions and you’ve won the AG. Forget about the swimming.

I know my friend who finished 5th in M45-49 got a slot. Not sure if there were rolldowns or not, though.

It’s all good. Congrats on the KQ!

I was standing around during the run near the brewery and overheard some people talking (could not figure out though who they were rooting for) about how the run gap was beginning to narrow in your AG, so for whatever reason I began following it quite closely.

If it was a man and a woman and the man was wearing camo colored cargo shorts it was probably me and my wife.

Little off topic but the beer they make there at the brewery is phenomenal

M45-49 had 4 spots allocated and rolled down to 5th. I was hoping for a 2nd rolldown cause I was next in line. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

We posted the Video of the Roll down on our Sportstats Facebook page.
