They are showing a corner over at IM Live’s stream.
It looks pretty messy.
I was thinking the same thing.
looks like they could hand out a drafting penalty to just about everyone! Very messy

anyone have any idea of the approx. mile marker for the riders going out (seen in the webcam)?
And teach people that the purpose of aerobars is to be in them!!
I noticed that also, lots of sitting up going on, wonder if it is near a water stop.
Holy shit did you see that peleton that just went by?
Yes, that was comical!
I wonder why the first bike segment splits aren’t up?
probably why they aren’t using aero bars, too dangerous for a group ride =P
.
Is it just me or are a lot of people just awkward looking on their rides? Bad positions and pedaling looks kinda goofy.
Maybe it’s the video…
I thought I heard a marshall shout, STAY OUT OF YOUR AEROBARS IN THE PACE LINE. Unless you’re in front.
I notice the same thing, it might be the camera angle. Lots of “bowlegged” pedaling.
Is it just me or are a lot of people just awkward looking on their rides?<<
No, there are quite a few people who don’t look real comfortable on the bike (in a “know how to ride” general sense.)
We were at the corner where there is a right turn going out (about 4-6 miles out of TA) and we already saw one person hit the ground (not sure what happened as it was well before the corner). Some people go into the corner at speed, others are almost breaking to go into the corner. The other side of the road is the opposite right turn and they are coming into a very stiff headwind and the turn right and go up over the bridge. They are in the left lane of traffic, so it’s maybe even more awkward, but at least everyone is going slower.
Should be interesting.
Off to run.

ok. The stream has been showing a policeman for the last few minutes. (He’s quite popular too; as he’s been on his cell the entire time.) You can barely make out bike tires going by. I wonder how they could make the coverage better.
Maybe its time for Ironman to take a que from NASCAR and put those lipstick cameras on the bike helments of the pro’s. Just a thought…
