Since it appears that they have eliminated the Knoa slots at the half IM’s for 08 then seems to me they should change the “qualification” requirement for those who get in by the lottery to a full IM as well.
Then too IMHO they should have it be a requirement that you have done one prior to even being allowed to enter the lottery rather than having to do a half by the end of Aug 08.
In the bike shop the other day I over heard some kid raving about the his legendary myths & craziness of those that do an long bike wild rides etc in an ironman. Then he happened to mention that he ws signed up for one next yr. Was wondering if he should get an aero helmet. How much time he’ll save Turns out he’s never even done a triathlon and was there to look at buying a bike.
Somewhere on ST. At least that’s the impression I was left. That they had from Buffalo Springs as well but just hadn’t updated their sites. Could be I misread it.
the 2008 buffalo springs application shows it as a qualifier for kona 2008. eagleman is already sold out for 2008 but the website shows kona slots. don’t know about others.
it would be near impossible to get a lottery slot in april, find a full ironman that one could even sign up for, train and complete that race(assuming that one wasn’t already signed up and well into training), and then begin to train for kona. i think the half iron validation race has always been in place for kona lottery, even when there were olympic distance qualifiers. i don’t see any reason to change things. it would mean that only those already signed up for an ironman for the next season could enter the lottery, since all of the full distance races are sold out so far in advance.
