Saw that this competitor to AG1 has been launched. Sceptical after the whole AG1 snake oil scam, but IM8 is backed by MayoClinic, Uni of Oxford (and they claim NASA).

Not backed by those institutions just people from those institutions, not the same.
Mullen, you are not being serious posting the 2 Nd article I hope âŚ
@hubcaps - True - it would never BE anything but the people of those institutions, I suppose.
@pk - not sure I follow. Nothing written on these things are serious, except for the voice of ST
The first person to pitch AG1 (or âAthletic Greensâ as it was called back then), that I can recall, was Lance
Here, we have David Beckham
Draw your own conclusions
Ag1 is a multivitamin drink, not anything great or bad as far as I can see. Not sure why people call a multivitamin drink snake oil. Itâs like calling centrum vitamins snake oilâŚ
Iâm guessing b/c itâs $3.50 a serving which is insane. A great multivitamin (like Costcoâs Kirkland branded) is only $0.04 a serving.
Just another overpriced nutritional supplement backed with a lot of marketing $$$. The song remains the same.
The video is full QVC cringe.
Right, thatâs what I thought. People say its snake oil since its more expensive than theyâd like to spend on it, which is fair. By that reasoning I suppose anything that I think is more expensive than I like would be considered âsnake oilâ. Itâs a branded vitamin drink and the stronger the brand the higher the price. Same with why Centrum costs more than Kirkland brandâŚ
Also, because the founder did some real estate fraud, that makes it snake oil according to the youtube links people shared. Not sure how the real estate stuff makes a totally different product snake oil.
Anyways, to each their own. However, Iâll tell you why I think people have a problem with AG1: its because they donât like the podcasters that take it, like Huberman, Rogan and Rich Roll. Thatâs fair but letâs call a spade a spade
Or, just maybe, itâs the fact that the companyâs marketing efforts revolve entirely around pretending itâs not an expensive vitamin supplement but some kind of unique vegetable replacement miracle for people (like Lance!) who apparently canât stand to eat stuff that doesnât walk or swim.
Oh right, I forgot Lance takes it too, and a lot of people definitely donât like him! Definitely snake oil;)
IMO what defines âsnake oilâ is the outsized claims of benefits (mostly to justify a high price) that strain credulity vs. something that just generally claims to be beneficial.
Amazingly, Beckham managed to have a reasonably successful career in sports prior to taking IM8.
Gee, ya got me, itâs totally âLance derangement syndromeâ to suggest that making pitches like, for eg: AG1 means I donât need to eat vegetables and Keytones are a great replacement for prescription antidepressant meds is just maybe pushing a wee bit into snakeoil territory.
Absolutely.
All of this stuff is bullshit
Yet - many Pro triathletes are very actively promoting it⌠I think it speaks heaps abouth their integrety to their âinfluenceesâ
The founder of AG1 has a shady past, but I can see he resigned now
Quote:
Ashendenâs criminal history emerged as part of a wide-ranging podcast
investigation into the supplements industryâs lack of science and regulation, and the outsized role of influencers such as Rogan and scientist Dr Andrew Huberman, who sources say are paid millions of dollars to promote AG1.

They are basically paid spokespeople (the world class athletic performances are what gives them the cred to be a spokesmodel). I remember TO being asked what products were so good he continued to use them after a sponsorship endedâŚhe couldnât think of any.
Look how many top pros turned down the sportwashing $$$ from Bahrain. Thereâs Sebi, andâŚ(crickets).
