Hey all-
So I signed up just about as soon as I could’ve- no particular reason, just trying to lay down my aging-up year race plans in the middle of a whole bunch of other family and work stuff happening in '24.
Looking for advice on place to stay (hotels, Airbnb’s, whatever) close to the finish and action central, just trying to make everything as convenient as possible for self and others.
Any suggestions? Any definites to avoid?
Thanks in advance!
Do an Expedia search for the dates you need then look at the map they have which shows the available places.
I did this yesterday and booked the Hyatt Place Houston / Woodlands, the website says only 3 rooms left for the days I needed/wanted.
I’ve stayed at the Drury Inn & Suites Woodlands previously but that hotel, and quite a few others are already booked out.
You don’t need to be right on the waterway in my opinion for family and friends to be able to spectate easily. The hotels my family stays at are 1-1.5 miles from Northshore Park (swim start) and are easily walkable.
Book sooner than later if you need/want to be really close to the action.
If I was traveling with my family, I’d stay at the Westin or Marriott. Those hotels are the most convenient for packet pickup and finish line. With kids or family, its close to movie theater, mall, restaurants, etc.
I stayed at the Westin in 2021 and this year I stayed at the Embassy Suites (also nice-- Whole Foods & Restaurants in the same plaza), which is located between transition and swim start. If I go back to Texas, Ill stay at the Westin again for the convenience/location.
Can’t speak about an AirBnB in the area, but Id imagine thats a solid option for a bigger group.
Agreed that the Westin or Marriott are by far the most convenient hotels. They’re right by the finish line and in an area with a lot of restaurants. When you finish, it’s a very short distance to your room.
As I recall, I got a better rate by calling to make the reservation rather than booking online. It’s worth checking both ways to get the best deal.
Hey All-
thanks for the replies and suggestions. I’m going to book by this weekend, so I’ll explore all the options and jump on it! Hope to see some of y’all there! (but not if you’re racing 70-74! lol,jk who cares? the more the merrier.
