I'm super impressed with Sam Long

I never particularly liked the YoYoYo hype nonsense, felt very sallow, looking for attention. But man, Sam has matured and his last video, in my opinion, is next level. I am so impressed that he thinks about happiness, definition of success, what is important in life, focusing on less goals, etc. Very different, and lightyears better, than what he started with. Kudos to him.

Yes, we got a ring side seat to witnessing this young, brash, single kid, maturing into a full fledged, almost humble, husband and father…Wishing the best for him in his triathlon pursuits, love to see the journeymen of the sport get a little taste of the top steps…

Yes the mods need to merge this new thread with the one I started awhile back. Not sure why, but it just didnt have the stickiness of Lionel’s thread, and many new ones have sprouted up around it.

Perhaps it will take a front page interview, they seem to be able to contain all those threads into one…

I think it was LS a few weeks back who said it about our sport (paraphrasing)

It’s amazing the amount of money that the sport has for pro triathletes now, and this is even before they race.

Financial stability for a guy like Long who’s still likely trying to “figure this sport out” is a huge blessing and can take a ton of stress off him. I start to worry when he talks about goals of winning T100 races and then adding in the Nice IM route (which eventually gets him to Kona), but I get it, it’s more athlete speak- any athlete at that level wants to win. Every NFL team in pre season thinks it’s going to the Super Bowl that year. I think the T100 has given him a golden parachute to really be smart about his training to improve his swim and not worry at all about the actual race result (easier said than done…case in point his goal of '25 to win a T100 race).

Sam posted he’s moving from Wahoo to Garmin.

Gotta imagine that’s a step up for him pay wise right?

One would think so.

Makes complete sense. They would want him since he is racing in the series, maybe even encouraged him to do it. Or it is a coincidence… (-;
Wanna bet on which series their(Garmin) bonus structure is based on?
