Was perfectly happy with versions 7 & 8 but not a fan of the changes they’ve made to 9 (why?!?!).
I might be tempted into something a little lighter and less cushy…about 66kg/145lbs, good biomechanics.
Thanks in advance.

I used to run in Mizuno’s too and this time around I went to a local running store and got the Nike Air Zoom Vomero+ 3. I’ve been EXTREMELY happy with these. I put on some quick laces and have been really happy. Not sure about the weight of them though.

Give the Newton Gravity a try. If you liked the older creations I think you’ll like the Newtons. They have that 30 day guarantee so you can get like 150 mi in them to make sure they are for you.
Hmmm, thanks for the suggestion but not too keen on the gimmicky stuff.
Just after a simple neutral trainer, preferably something durable that fits similar to the Mizuno…
what i did was to scour the internet and find as many of the 8’s in my size as i could. sadly, that was only 2pr. i emailed them about the crappy ‘dynamic heel’ thing and they said it would be on the 09’s as well. maybe if enough of us let them know it sucks, they’ll change it for the in 2010.
i’m hooped when i wear out the 2nd pair as i’ve already tred a load of other shoes with no luck.
Hmm… I’m not sure what they did between the wave precision 7s and the wave precision 9s, but the 9s feel way worse than the 7s… actually horrendously worse. I foolishly bought the 9s thinking they would fit the same as the 7s and now I’m looking for new shoes too. Anyone have any recommendations? Preferably non-mizuno, since I can’t have them making shoes that force me to go through this process 1+ times a year, and I don’t have the money to buy up a 10 year supply. 140ish, and good mechanics for me too.
bummer, this worries me too, as i am still working through several pairs of 8’s - bought 2 when a special rolled through last year.
Haven’t tried the 9’s yet. It just figures, finally get comfortable with a pair and they change them.
I guess I may have to go to 2 styles or brands in the rotation just for this kind of thing…
will be interested in what you find out about similar or comparable brands/styles.
Not to change the thread to a running shoe rant, but the NB 768’s are brutal compared to their predecessors as well. It seems like they really “cheaped” them up and I’m looking for new wheels too; first time in 5 years. My short-term solution is to stock-pile on 2007 models.
You might want to try on the Brooks Glyercin or Defyance. The Glycerin is their more cushioned neutral shoe, the Defyance would be on par with the wave rider.
I’ll also second the Nike Vomero suggestion. We’ve heard very good feedback on them.
Good luck.

I was a creation user…I think 6/7/8 probably…The eight is when I switched to the Wave Rider and have since switched to the Wave Precision. All neutral shoes.
The wave Precision (that just came out) has a smaller toe box than previous models and is tish heavier than the last Precision but still lighter than the Rider/Creation.
I love the new Precisions…Neutral lightweight trainer ( I think that is what they call it). I just ran San Fran Marathon in them and felt great.

Just bought a pair of the Glyercin’s last night, looking forward to my run to try them out today.

Are you talking about the “wave” cushioning…or the upper section, around the ankle/heel? I actually like the 8’s heel cushioning, even though it was quite a change to the 7. I didn’t notice much of a difference, they felt equally forgiving. Its the upper on the 9s that I can’t stand…I’m not sure what they were thinking with that crossover design around the ankle, over-engineered for sure…
To whoever mentioned the Precision, thanks…pretty dumb of me not to even consider going further down the Mizuno line (duh!). The toebox shouldn’t worry me (narrow feet), is the rest of the sizing/fit spot-on? Wearing size 9.5 currently…
I’d been running in the wave creations since they first came out, and after many pairs and upgrades, somewhere around 7 I bailed based on price and went to good old Nike Pegasus. To me they feel just as good, especially since you can buy two pair for the price of the Mizuno’s. I went back and got a pair of Mizuno WC8’s last year when they were on sale. They are nice shoes, but still I think the Pegasus are just fine for training if a neutral cushion shoe is all you need.
