IM Nice, here I DON'T come

I have been getting ready for my second IM this year but after having finished 4 in the last 2 years, I decided that I really need a vacation not another IM. So with my flights booked and rental cars allright, I will go to that general area of the Italian/French Riviera, but stay away from the race site and leave my bike here so I can’t be tempted. Because I just realized that I have not had a non “working/racing” vacation in almost 20 years. Because every time I travel for vacation I race and am in areas where people know me and then we talk about work. So in order to get really away, I need to be away from the sport.

I love my work and like it that my interests overlap with work, but we all know too much of a good thing is still too much.

That means on this vacation I’ll be able to snorkel, play in the ocean, and just hang out. I am very excited about the idea to get my batteries recharged for work and for racing.

Oh boy.

That is good. I had done without that kind of vacation for probably 12 years. Everywhere I went, I was racing. I don’t mind it though.

I have been on two vacations where I wasn;t there specifically to race/train. Both were pretty nice.

Enjoy yourself Sir, your hard work and dedication mean you’ve earned it.

POSER…

Well, I guess wont see you at the starting line…not like I was going to be there. Enjoy yourself, sounds like a great time. My neighbor just got back from Nice (they went to Barcelona and drove to Nice for a day - stayed 5). She said that it was worth going even if I dont race, I just cant justify it.
