I’ve never flown into either city, but I did see jetliners landing at Dane County Airport in Madison last weekend when I was there, so I suppose it’s possible to get a flight directly to the capital.
If Milwaukee is significantly cheaper in terms of airfare, it’s a very easy drive from there to Madison, less than an hour across I94. You might get a better deal on airfare, etc. by going through brewtown.

Lots of flights into Madison. From Minn., Chicago, Detroit, Denver, Memphis, Dallas, Wash DC, Milwaukee, Cincinnati. The airlines are NW, United, AA, Midwest Express, Delta, Continental.
Thanks. There are flights there. I think the first time I checked I must have mistyped madison because it didn’t show up.
A couple of years ago I actually got a cheaper fare on United flying into Madison as opposed to flying into Chicago. It did not make much sense as I flew through Chicago to get Madison, but then again, the economics of running an airline never made much sense to me.
but you can always ship your bike to Chicago, because it is safer. Let me get you my address…
My wife and I flew into Madison over Memorial Day weekend and got a great fare. The airport is very nice, low traffic, and was easy to get in and out of.
If you can find a ticket/itinerary that works - definitely fly into Mad-town.
