IM FL Coverage

Looks like there isn’t one listed on IM’s YouTube channel; do we know if there’s any coverage anywhere?

i always take tri247’s word for these things - and unfortunately they say there’s no coverage. race tracker only!

too bad - i think it’ll actually be a really interesting race!

Right, Men’s field especially looks interesting.

Denis Chevrot is racing today for the first time on the brand new Decathlon triathlon bike which may be one of the cheaper options for a tri bike (around 4 000 € from what I’ve read)

Until now, Chevrot had raced on a Cervelo bike although he has a Decathlon contract.

Seems that Horseau did not start, his Insta show that he is stuck in bed with a fever.

Svensson, RVB, Chevrot and Marquard are within a minute of the leader.

Ditlev was 14 th, only 1’ 30’’ down and is set for a great race.

Our realbdeal is one dogged triathlete.

Woke up this morning expecting to watch this … no live coverage?!

Looks like Dietlev didn’t have the best swim. Cam Wurf is racing, which I didn’t know, but he had a very poor swim.

Actually he had a great swim and was only 23 seconds down to the swim leaders, he took more time in T1 as he put long sleeves on. One of his friends is blogging. He was 1’ 20 down at the start of the bike, at the 33 km bike mark he has taken the lead and was riding 46, 2 km/h ! RVB, Svensson, Stepniak and Marquardt are the main contenders who seemed to be able to take his wheel. Chevrot is 7th already 1’ 16 down!

Chevrot 244 down. Front is moving. Cam going backwards too.

i think Wurf although still 14th has gained, he was 6’28’’ down and is ‘only’ 5’ 38 ‘’ 21 km later.

Hanson seem to struggle again, even compared to Chevrot (of the weaker riders among the contenders) Hanson rode 1h 18’ 14’’ and Chevrot 1 h 15’ 56’'.

On the other hand, Marquardt is racing from the front. He looks like the next great racer from the US and does not seem to have bad races and is a all around athlete with no glaring weakness and a great future.

meanwhile it’s india, skye, and jocelyn off the front of the women’s race. could make for an interesting battle on the run.

the swim must have been ugly - horsfall-turner coming out in 50+ is really slow for him! it also seems like it controlled the gaps a bit, since hanson was only 3 minutes back out of the water.

it seems like there are very few timing mats, but at 112k matt was 12 minutes back. that’s not a fatal gap for him, but he really does need to turn it around in latter stages of the bike if he’s going to run into the money.

for my part i’m really interested in the van rysel bikes. some of them looked like excellent value.

Whats happening with the tracker?? RvB up front all of a sudden? And Magnus 3rd?

Looks like there isn’t one listed on IM’s YouTube channel; do we know if there’s any coverage anywhere?

So magnus not able to make a gap going into t2.
Is this kind of course simply too easy for good bike riders?

Insane foot race with 5 pol in t2 together, lets see who overbiked!

My bad Chevrot’s bike is really a Van Rysel as it is the brand under which Decathlon bikes are sold.

Van Rysel is a play on words :i think it losely means from Lille (northern city where Decathlon stems from) in flamish. Anyway it seems like Chevrot has dropped out of the race. We can only wonder if his bike had a mechanical or if he just decided that his race was over and is also registered for Cozumel. Until then, il was somewhat impressed that though he was losing time to the front pack he was the one chasing which is not his forte. His racing style is really similar to Lange and he usually hides in packs like he did in Hamburg.

I am somewhat amazed/impressed that Stepniak, Svensson and Marquardt have managed to stay with Ditlev and RVB. Ulloa just got dropped at the last timing mat. Also noticed that several mats were missing, did IM save on timing mats to make up for the Race Ranger tech?

As to Hanson, he is the only professional in the PTO ranking whose top 3 result all date back to 2022 and will go out of the top 50 and fall to around 60th place depending on his race today.

Lasse . looks like the tracker was f**ked … better now. Magnus has this one, 7h35m ??

Edit: 5 mins to RvB should be enough

Edit II: Unbelievable IM does not has this on the “Live” circuit. The business case for this is dying then … IMFL is a big fish

Bummer it’s not live.

I was looking forward to seeing moto shots of the pros with the Race Ranger system - since it’s easily bright enough that any camera would pickup the lights indicating exactly where someone was relative to the draft zone (in, just outside, or a bit further outside).

Yeah Hanson has definitely had a year to forget. It’ll be interesting to see where his career goes from here.

I used to be coached by Matt, so I’m a fanboy, but you have to acknowledge his results don’t seem to be the same as they were. I can’t tell if he’s regressed some, or if it’s simply so many people getting so much faster. Hopefully he can figure it out and turn things around, I’d think this Ironman Pro series is something he’ll look forward to doing since he races a lot anyway.

and Levante Lukacs took the lead at km 17.5 !!

Suddenly going from 33st to 1st!!!

Oh well, maybe the tracker did mess up somewhat…

Marquardt is running great and is usually running stronger at the end.
Hanson may finish in the top 6, but his riding is really sub-par and has not evolved whereas everybody else improved its game.

well for now, it looks like he’s run himself into the top 10!

meanwhile the tracker’s gone bonkers and stuck a random guy from 33rd place into first, pulling ulloa in and out of the top 10, etc.

the real story looks to be that ditlev has cracked, and marquardt and von berg running 2 and 1. stepniak looking likely to overhaul ditlev for 3rd any moment. fascinating race!
