IM Chattanooga 2014 - where to stay

Was lucky to get a slot

Any recommendations on where to stay? Open to anything as long as not too far from the race site (less than 5-10 miles)

A.

The Chattanoogan will most likely start taking reservations again. I’m sure a lot of ppl are calling to cancel.

I think the Doubletree downtown is great.

Courtyard, Residence Inn, Hilton Garden, Hampton Inn, Double Tree all right in downtown. Just Google Chattanooga hotels and click on the map.

I booked a room at the Chattanooga Marriott Downtown. Of course, I’ve never actually been to Chattanooga, so for all I know I might be staying in crack house…hopefully not, but just sayin’…

I would go to the Chattanooge its official thread…look at those who posted that they got reservations at a cheap rate (per my advice :O) ) and private message them if they got in. If not, see if you could use their reservations

I just cancelled my reservations at the Hilton Garden Inn less than a mile from the finish.

Spot

Downtown hotels that are nice and ranked on distance from finish area (roughly)

Less than 5 min walk:

  • Marriott Garden
  • Hampton Inn/Suites
  • Doubletree
  • Hilton Garden

10-15 min walk:

  • Sheraton Reed House
  • Holiday Inn Express
  • The Chattanoogan

The hotels above are nice clean and relatively new and/or restored hotels.
The Choo Choo is a historic place, but not (how to say this nicely) upscale. Its like 2 miles from the start/finish but definitely historic.

I would also imagine that if you are traveling alone and/or lightly, some of the local tri people may be willing to let some reputable folks bunk for a day or two, just ask

I just got out of my $90-day, 3-day VRBO deal that was walking distance to Aquarium (if that helps). It looked nice and got nice reviews. The landlord responds quickly, that I can say.

I’ve called all the ones listed above within a 5 minute walk and none are taking reservations that far in advance.

they are probably busy jacking up their rates lol.

Don’t forget the Marriott Springhill Suites down the waterfront about 5 min from transition.

click on the travel link on the IM website. It links you to the travel bureau. I reserved at the Sheraton that way.

Good luck.

You can book hotels through the Ironman Chattanooga website. Click on “Travel” and it will provide a link.

I got into the Sheraton through the IM Choo webpage under travel. The race hotels are listed there.
When I called other hotels that were in the area but not on the list, they weren’t taking reservations until November.

I got one at the Sheraton but was hoping to be closer. I’ll try the others later in the year.
