I plan on doing this as my 1st IM. I understand the registration fee without community donation will be offered onsite afer this year’s race and for a short while on the web. I will be deployed to Iraq during this year’s event and wandered if there is a big rush to get the registration only fee right after the race so just plan on doing the community slot later. I could try to the web right after the event but not sure I will have access. Thanks.
I think you probably won’t have too much trouble getting a spot online this year. It’s taken so long for a very popular race like Coeur d’Alene to sell out this year (is it sold out yet?), that it’s likely Arizona will be open for quite a while after this year’s event. Good luck!
Hey Markster! I may piss some people off with my comment, but IMO you get a “go to the front of the line” just for serving and secondly for serving in Iraq. Contact the Race Director and see what they can do for you. 2500 racers versus 2501 racers will not make that big of a difference.
Be safe!
Hey Markster,
First of all, thank you for your service. Good Luck over there. IMAZ is going to be my first IM also. I hope you get the chance to register. I don’t see an Ironman Iraq anytime in the future.
Like others have said, thank you very much for keeping us safe. Last year IMAZ closed in 15-20 minutes the day after the race. If you can’t get in on line, Check in with CAF - Operation Rebound. Its a great Charity that raises money for injured military personal. I raced for them at Florida 70.3. My guess is they could get you in.
Good luck and be safe.
Last year IMAZ closed in 15-20 minutes the day after the race.
The only reason it closed was because of the double registration April and November. 2010 will be open for quite some time online.
Yeah, as ^^^ said, this year can’t be used as a guide because there were two onsite registrations for it. If I were a betting man I’d say IMAZ 2010 will be open for a number of weeks.
I sent a message to the race director and will look into CAF. Did you sponsor an injuried service member or donate to the charity for them to get you in? Thx
I registered on-line for the race and later learned about Operation Rebound. I only raised money for the cause and wore the “team jersey” during the race. These guys have given so much, it just seemed like the right thing to do. I was only guessing that they could get you in. If I remember correctly, they are the official Ironman Charity in 2010.
