If you saw this on bike path, what, if anything, would you do?

Riding today I saw a new looking yellow cannondale road bike, being ridded at about 10mph by an older guy, no helmet, and jeans.
If he was riding it like he stole it, he would have been going way faster! but it seemed so incongruous. So I thought-was it wronf of me to assume it wasnt his as he wasnt decked out in spandex and riding so slowly? Its been bugging me.

i’d quit riding bike paths. don’t you know that roads are for bicycles? sheesh.

People buy bikes and ride them. Some just don’t want to look like idiots in spandex. He was probably saying why is this idiot in spandex on a bike path going twice as fast as me he should be on the street.

being ridded

Seriously? I think you have your own problems to worry about…

Sometimes people ride their road bikes to run an errand or visit their buddies down the road for a beer.

But I guess road-bikes have always to be ridden in spandex.
After all, they have to, so that you can challenge them for a race.

Wow, you must be bugged by a lot of things…

i know when i was a kid i would ALWAYS change into my spandex before riding my bike…

jeans on a bike?! are you serious?! he MUST have stolen it, there is not other reason for him to be wearing jeans while cycling at 10mph…

Lemme guess he was a minority too, right? Is that the unspoken word here?

I was on my TT bike yesterday afternoon on a bike path with my kids wearing baggy shorts a T shirt and flip flops . The old womens MTN bike I normally use for that purpose has flat tires after hanging in the garage all winter and I did not feel like dealing with it. I am sure that I looked like a total jackass to the roadies that went by. To me they looked like morons for riding on a path that you can really only go 10 mph on due to the traffic and the turns. Glad no one called the cops on me. I was wearing a helmet though as not to sets a bad example for the kiddies.

Well, I would immediately run home and pick up an old English textbook and do some review reading. Then, I would grab a Thesaurus so I can randomly drop a word like “incongruous” into everyday discussion (good usage by the way). After all that, I would post about a guy who was out on a ride to enjoy the day rather than getting decked out in all the crap we put on in order to go on a ride. Not every ride is a training ride and not everyone has multiple bikes. For road riding, I only have my P2C. My full suspension Trek Liquid is not a road rider and with its super soft tires, it wears very quickly. My old Iron Horse XC race bike hasnt been converted (selling off all the low weight race stuff) to commuter/ fun ride duty just yet. The only part that would bug me is the lack of a helmet but it certainly would not bug me enough to post up.

Your surprised to see something like this in LA?

You need to come down to the bike paths in San Diego and get introduced to “g-string rollerblading guy”.

Eh.

If I was going to a friends place that just involved bike paths and small roads to get there, that could’ve been me (except for the old and 10 mph parts).

This is just me, but I would be more concerned that you appear to have the intellect of an orange peel. If he ‘ridded’ his bike in jeans I wouldn’t go so far as saying he is ‘wronf’.

It’s a really great site and I bought a math/reading package for my nephew a few months ago. Enjoy!

The bike was being ridded of demons. Obviously the older guy was some sort of priest/witch doctor/shaman/elder (no offence intended, I really don’t know which term would be approriate) ridding the bike so the spandex bedecked owner can have a safe season. Had to wear jeans because the ceremonial robes get caught in the chain. To the OP: what would I do? I’d high tail it out of there. Those demons will be looking for a new bike to haunt. Ever see a pro rider go down for no apparent reason? Demons, I tell you.

I just rode to work on my BMC SLT01, brand new, sram force…in jeans and flip flops. Oh, and I was riding slow(ish)ly.

what is with you, dude? you called out the guy who got knocked off his bike about using gay slurs b/c he used “boyfriend” in his post …

… you seem to see bigots everywhere.

.

WTF?
I ask a question and get all these negative comments. NO not a minority. I was on a bike path as we finished up a long ride and wanted to cut our 5 miles of a very busy part of the highway. NO I dont ride fast in aerobars like an a-hole on the bike path. AND I used to teach ESL…forgive me for jotting off a quick note, I didn’t realise it was going to be assigned a grade. Again- WTF?
What a bunch of freakin A-Holes.

Just calling it as I see it…No reply for the OP on this one, but…

And, whatever excuse the dude in NYC gave, there is a great deal a vailidty to my question. You don’t mention the words “his boyfriend” fives times in a paragraph and not have some issue. Whether the guy admitted it or not, there was clearly some issue at play.

RV

if its any help, i see bigots everywhere.

I told you guys, you’re bike should match your skill level. It should be a law. We’d all know just like that if someone was on a stolen bike.
