I get so tired of this bullshit. You really should do some reading on the hapless state of the social “sciences,†to include sociology and psychology. A very large percentage of sociologists and psychologists (90%+) self identify as liberals, and more than a few of them do these “studies†that purport to show that conservatives are any number of things. And yet…the majority of their studies can’t be replicated. More than a few real scientists are questioning whether or not sociology and psychology should even be considered science at all, given their sad track record. Many of these so called studies are designed in the first place to get to a biased answer that fits the preconceived notions of the study author.

Yeah, absolutely, you can say I’m triggered, because this sort of crap really pisses me off. This is exactly the problem we face in this country today. It’s not enough anymore to simply disagree on policy or political issues, no, we have to paint the other side as evil, stupid, etc. So where’s the basis for compromise? It doesn’t exist because who would compromise with the other side when we paint them this way? We’re never going to get anywhere when each side refuses to even listen to the other. And “studies” like this only reinforce this bad behavior.

I started with the last link and it does nothing to disprove the thesis in the OPs link.
I can comfortably say that in my lifetime, those I’ve met or who I know of who are anti-gay, are, in general, less well educated than those I know with more liberal social views. So, yes, for me, it’s easy to imagine that study’s findings are correct.

To follow up on what Kay had said, the study was specifically referring to trends that lead toward bigoted thinking. “Anti-gay” in this regard is just another way of saying prejudiced.
This doesn’t imply that someone who votes Republican because they want stronger defense, lower taxes, gun rights, no abortions, etc. has anything to do with what the study was referring to.
Bigots tend to be dumb and conservative. I wouldn’t think that that would be a very controversial statement.
I think the problem here is the OP’s subject line: “right wing conservatives are stupid.” That’s not what the study says. It says bigots are stupid and right wing conservatives. That is something very different.
