If you did 1 pushup on Jan 1st & increased by one per day

What date would you max out?

Probably January 3rd.

By the end of the month for an above average, athletic person. 30 consecutive pushups are no joke.
The general population wouldn’t make it past 15-16th of the month. They don’t have the general strength

We’re talking about real “normal” pushups right? Do they all have to be consecutive? Pretty sure I can do several hundred over the course of the day.

If consecutive, my current max number of reps is sitting at 30, but I could do more. That wasn’t to failure, but it was fairly hard.

If I had to guess, February 10th.

Probably Mid-late March. Somewhere around the 100 mark. But I do a fair amount of push ups regularly.

How about we actually put this in to practice and see how it goes? Start a thread on it?

I am in. I have no idea if I can do 5. Should be fun.

Well, at least you won’t have to suffer for long.

Also, I may have been thinking about this challenge wrong. Originally, I thought if I can do 80ish now, after two and a half months of regular push ups I should be able to do a few more. But I didn’t think about fatigue. If I do 79 push ups today, will I be able to do 80 tomorrow? Will I only be able to do 60 because I’m sore? It will be interesting to see.

So, we doin’ this or what???

I’m in…

Too bad theForge isn’t here any more.

So, we doin’ this or what???

I’m in. We have 6 months to “train”.

Something tells me he wouldn’t do too well with push ups. I think he is a 1-6 rep type guy.

Nah. I’m starting retroactive to July 1st. That way it’s easier to keep track of how many I need to do.

So today I do 10 total (1, break. 2, break. 3, break. 4, break.) Breaks are optional…

You guys could put it up on FB, have it go viral, and raise money for some charity. Maybe raise funds for those afflicted with Delaware street nap syndrome…

I’m in…But did we stipulate push ups in a row, or during the day? During the day would be much better for us, but of course most here could go all year, so not really a challenge I suppose. At least it wasn’t pull ups…

in a row is implied. with proper form, of course… from the toes, not the knees.

Fuck… I might be out on “Day1”

Jan 1st… well technically Jan 0. Pretty sure I cant do 1 push up.

I know how to do a frigging push up dude…(-; I was just thinking it might be more fun and a good use of our brains, if we were to add in a little twist to the challenge. So you have your amount of days in front of you and the # of pushups to be done. What if you could do them out of order. For instance, you could do 20 on the first day, and then check off day 20. As long as you keep filling in the days in-between, you are still good to go. You could save your 1 to 10’s for later on when having a bad day, or some day you did 50 prior. Kind of like the run challenge, you have to do a minimum, but get to choose how much you do, what do you think???
