If you could have any 2 bikes

No holds barred, what would they be, and why?

Top of the line Speed Concept with Di2 and S5 with Di2. Not to be greedy or anything  I do however currently love the two bikes that I have, P3 and R3…

Lotus superbike/S5
.

Scott Plasma 3, and Parlee Z5 SL
.

Felt DA with SRAM Red Black and Zipp R2C. Cervelo R5CA with SRAM Red Black.

This is my favorite game to play when I’m bored. Both of these bikes with their matte and gloss color scheme would also look amazing with the new ENVE aero wheels (8.9 and 3.4 respectively).

The problem is that I always want 3 dream bikes. And currently that would include the upcoming Scott Spark 29.

Trek Speed Concept 9.9 w/Di2 - Top of the heap technology
Colnago C59 Italia (in matt black) w/Super Record 11 - A little “old world” soul still exists in the Colnago bikes. (No matter where the frames are made…)

Brad

Cervelo P5 with 2nd generation Dura Ace Di2.

And maybe this bike for fooling around.

No holds barred, what would they be, and why?

I’ll keep my Jamis T2. It fits.

lol

so would anything! =)

ok - then I’ll keep it cause the colors match my son’s bike.

Do you see the irony of constantly posting an rider can be made to “Fit” any bike by adjusting the components on a forum started by a guy who:

A: Helped pioneer building frames with significantly differnent geometry so we wouldn’t have to do what you suggest.

B: Maintains a database to help people select a bike so they don’t have to do what you suggest.

C: Teaches a fit system so people don’t do what you suggest.don’t .

Why do you hate Dan so much?

Any nude carbon because it just looks good atop my car.

I honestly have no idea what I would have.

Wow. I’d gladly take a Scott Plasma Premium with Di2, 808/1080 ; And a Mclaren Venge Di2, 404 FC
Just love these two bikes. Absolutely stunning. Especially the Plasma. Stealthy, and a sleek design. Love the use of colours on the Mclaren Venge as well

  1. Speed Concept 9.9. Di2, Stinger9/Stinger disc, etc
  2. Torn between Cervelo S5 and Specialized Venge. I love the look of the Venge, and I really don’t want to be another Cervelo lemming, but I feel the S5 is probably the better bike between the two.

what exactly do you think I am suggesting?

I think you suggest that I suggest something I do not suggest at all!

I propose that our Jamis man post the stack and reach of his particular Jamis.

we can then survey the major brands - cervelo, track, specialized, cannondale, and see whether or not all of them have a size of their frame with which his position could be duplicated with perfectly reasonable stems and spacers.

I suspect almost all of them will, and I suspect part of the reason for that is the role Dan played in pushing the industry toward intelligent TT geometry.

I also realize there are people whose bodies and positions will cause them to be exceptions who really do need to find the bike that fits.

Jesus Christ, it’s a nice day out there. Get off the internet and live a little.

I’m don’t think you are suggesting anything, I know you outright have said.

No anything wouldn’t fit, at least fit optimally, which is a large part of Dan’s fitting philosophy. Take your TT bike to roadbike conversion. I’m quite certain that If you could get a Cerveol to custom build that frome Dan would sugget it be built differently. I don’t doubt it works just fine for you, but thats different from working optimally.

Take the S3, S5 Geometry. They are different. Their will be lots of overlap in people who fit just fine. a much smaller number who eith fit perfect on one or the other, and few who either can fit only one or the other without big compromises.

1 more day then doctor says I can run and bike outside again

Lets pretend his is on a Medium Jamis T2, stack/reach of 509/417, st angle of 78 degrees and it fits perfectly with no spacers, 100mm flat stem.

P2C in 54 comes within millimeters of the exact same stack and reach and has the same STA available. no difference in fit

a P3C in 54 would need 1cm of spacer to duplicate the fit, no problem with that and still faster than a p2c with no spacers

specialized transition would need a 2cm longer stem, slightly downangled at size medium

Slice in 54 has the exact same stack, just need a 120 stem instead of 100.

So, all of those bikes duplicate this theoretical Jamis with very normal setup. Thanks to Dan’s influence on the industry most of us can ride damn near any bike we want =)

sadly the lotus superbike may not be available in a size that fits me. I’m prepared to adjust my position in that case though.
