If you could buy 1 piece of gym equipment

Other than treadmill, trainer, etc… If you could buy one more piece of “training” equipment, what would it be and why?

Could a ‘piece’ be a basic weight set? I’m finally realizing that strength work is necessary as I get older, and have started using my weights that I originally bought for P90X twelve or so years ago. I have dumbells that are 30, 20, 15 and 10 - not super heavy but depending on the movement, they can provide good weight in addition to body weight for basic strength work.

A bench of some kind… step ups, incline and decline pushups, etc.

Maybe not 1 piece but I would get a squat rack, bar and bumper plates.

I would get a multi purpose rack, due to versatility reasons
.

Assuming that I already have dumbbells, the only real piece of gym equipment I would need is a bench, even better would be one that inclines as close to 90 degrees as possible
.

Seriously, Bowflex. Due to its size, some people get rid of it cheap and that’s how I got mine as well. You can do a lot of different workouts with it.

a TRX system and a chinup bar. (I guess that’s 2 things). compact, easy to store and lets you target pretty much any area.

I have a gym membership. I can’t think of anything I’d want in my house that isn’t already over there

Wait? Does a multi-tap kegerator count? They don’t have one there, either

Agree with Jason, a TRX or similar device. I have a Universal Strength Apparatus, which is similar to a TRX, but a bit more versatile, IMO.

+1 recently got the 560’s

I bought an almost new half rack on craigslist for $100. I think the original retail price was $1,200.

I then bought an incline/decline bench on craigslist for $20. This was brand new and unassembled in the original box.

The olympic weights and bars I bought at Dick’s sporting goods when they were on super sale.

Probably a heavy bag on an I beam.

Or an infinity lap pool on the beach.

A power plate machine is cool too I think.

I agree with the recommendation on adjustable dumbbells and a bench, but there are better options than the Bowflex ones. I looked at the Bowflex weights and ended up going with Powerblock Pro Series weights (plus a stand and their bench).
