If I use PC's exclusively in training and race on RC's could I really improve my sustainable power by over 56% in six months?

yaquicarbo,

Thank you again. You have been most helpful and generous with your answers and time.

Keep on learning and improving rather than getting older.

And go fast.

One really cool thing with PCs is over time you almost don’t even realize you’re actually pulling up. After 2 1/2 months it really starts to feel natural. In the beginning though, PC riding is quite hard. You’re using a lot of brain power/concentration to keep reminding yourself to pull up, that and the fact that your using wimpy hip flexors with non-areobic capacity. Over time though the hip flexors become strong and the aerobic capacity becomes pretty amazing.

I can not wait to see how I will do on regular cranks. May 8th is the go date to try regular cranks out again. It will have been a little over 3 months. I will post my thoughts then.

TRI,

Thanks for your feedback. I’ll look forward to your future post and results.

I still find that I am not as strong using PCs as many roadies that I ride with when climbing hills. Last year on regular cranks I would be one of the first up any hill. This year I am usually in the lower 1/3.

Last night for example I was completely destroyed after climbing a very steep hill. My HR must have been at max when I crested. My legs and lungs were toast. I was able to hang on the pack, but later in the ride I got spit off the back do to being so wipped out. Actually I am still feeling the effects of the ride this morning. Still I feel I am getting stronger every day, so eventually I should be able to stay with the pack no matter what.
