Looking for some simple clean ideas that work and won’t mess up the bike. I don’t want any versions that hang from the wheels. More interested in products that hang by holding the frame up, as close to the wall as possible.
Any great options?
Any products I should steer clear of?
There are a lot of ideas out there, but not sure what you have had good experiences with.
I used the J hangers for years and finally got tired of having bikes hanging three feet from the wall and taking up valuable garage space. If you have a table saw and a jig saw, you can make these. Don’t mind the burn marks. My jig saw blade was dull! I’m going to take my handheld router and round over the edges where the top top contacts.
Man, I miss that bike. I know folks love to crap on that frame but for me it was awesome. It’s the one bike I regret selling. Sold it after my last IM in 2014.
I’ve got the 2008 Orca to match (made the laptop stand, too).
My experience with different tri bikes is limited (QR Tequilo, Specialized Transition), but the 2008 Ordu is just so comfortable! I bought it when they first came out and was never disappointed, even though everyone shit on it for being an aero brick.
If we get to race next year, my wife has said she’d be open to me picking up a P-Series or a PR5. Fingers crossed.
I use the Super Hero because I have mostly Speedplay pedals. Taking the insert out allows you to mount either Crank Bros. Eggbeater, Shimano or Look pedals.
They are ok. Wayyyy overpriced for what they are, but very sturdy. Although nothing is sturdy if you can’t get at least one of the screws into a stud.
Are you worried at all about the possible “stress” of the bike being held on mostly by the crank arm? Yes, I see the two small shelves for holding the wheels. Just wondering if you worry about that. That is the first thing that popped into my head.

Nicely done. Just paint them black, burn marks will disappear.
I might have to do that. And add a little felt or pads to the area too.

I’d bet that the crank arms and pedal spindles are more than up for the challenge of holding a bike!

This is exactly the project I have been looking for, thanks for sharing!
DIY. 8 foot 2x4. Simple hooks from Home Depot separated by a foot (I used park tool bc it’s better quality). Use one and a half inch wood screws into each stud. With the cheaper hooks it’s all in for $25.
