I need to get my legs up

My worst event, by far, is the run. I’m already no more than MOP in the swim and bike, but once on the run course, I just count all the people who pass me. And the longer, or hotter, the run, the worse I get.

One thing I have identified for sure is a very inefficient stride. And the main component is getting my legs up. I have more of a shuffling stride. I’m not really sure why. I’m not accommodating for anything. I just can’t seem to raise my legs in my stride. Doesn’t help that I’m short with short legs anyway.

So I need somw exercises to strengthen those muscles that help get my legs up in that part of my stride, preferably some that I can do without special equipment. I have some resistance bands and have been trying different things. But I would like specific exercises rather than just kind of winging it and maybe wasting time on exercises that aren’t particularly effective.

Scroll down to the post about jumping rope. Also doing long distance all the time isnt helping

I saw the one about jumping rope. I’m actually pretty good at jump rope now. But that doesn’t really seem to help get the legs up.

As for distance, you’re probably right. I should do more wind sprint type work outs.

Single leg skipping, double unders?

What does that mean? Can you explain “double unders”?

A double-under is when the rope passes under your feet twice during a single jump

I’m lucky if I can do a half-under LOL

Ahhhh. That makes sense. I do that sometimes when I am jumping. Honestly, I need to get back on it. I’ve maybe only jumped rope twice in the last year. Damn good exercise.
