I need a beater bike

Hard to beat this deal for a frame:

$55 for a frame, $30 for a carbon fork. Depending on what kind of parts you may have laying around your garage you might be able to pull it off with your budget. Also I figure if you are looking for a beater bike you are probably on ebay. If you are already on ebay you might as well look for some of the parts that you may need there. Just an option.

Beater bikes are wonderful things. I have an old Cannondale bike that stays strapped to my trainer, unless it’s raining outside. I gave $120 for it, and it’s one of the best bargains I’ve ever found. It’s a late 80’s model, purple, giant fat aluminum tubes, narrow little handlebars and downtube shifters. But it’s amazingly sound from a mechanical standpoint, and I’ve even done a couple of 50 mile rides on it. I’m thinking about racing it one time this year just for kicks. I’d like to see what the performance differences are between that bike and my good one.

Look on ebay. There are some pretty good deals on older bikes there. I almost bought a Dave Scott Centurion several times as a restoration project.
