Title says it all. Looking for new shoes soon.
The Mizuno Wave Elixir 5 has been pretty good for me. I liked it better than the Adrenaline 10 that I had before. It was a little lighter but still offered some support. I tried a DS trainer on in the store this summer, but it felt a little too light.
The Elixir 6 has been hard to find in stores.
Any other recommendations?
Sauconty Fastwitch
.
Fastwitch for sure and the progrid ride
.
I recently switched to the adrenalines after running in the asics 2xxx series for the better part of a decade. Love both models
I use the Elixer 5 and Iike it. I am really digging the Saucony Progrid Mirage as an alternative.
I switched to Mizuno Wave Precision 12 and they’re AWESOME! I was a Nike Zoom Elite for 8+ years and these are better IMO. Perfect build, very airy.
my flat feet fell off the inside of the fastwitches. I like the Wave Elixer 6 that I’m running in, but I find it rather ‘hard’ rather than cushy. I use it for HM and shorter training runs.
I’m thinking of the Kwicky Blade Lights- but haven’t tried them on yet. For long distance training shoes- I’ve put a lot of miles into three pair of Nike Lunarglides, but am looking for the right race shoe for marathon distance. the Lunarglides will do, but I’d kinda’ want something 9oz rather than 11oz

I’ve been struggling for a good set of shoes recently. I was a long time asics 2xxx/ds trainer user who switched to the elixir. The elixir felt a bit hard to me even though I went through 3 pairs. I recently picked up the mirages and am loving them. Really good blend of comfort and cushy with just a bit of support.
Also, love the low ramp. With Saucony embracing lower ramp shoes in the mirage and the guide 5, I will never go back to newton.
If you like the adrenaline I think you would like something like the new Kwicky blade lights by k-swiss. They do have some support in them but not as much cushion as the Brooks Adrenaline. I just got them and the are a great long distance shoe that is decently lighter than the adrenaline.

I had a set of Lunarglides from last summer. I didn’t love them, but they were okay. That’s when I found the Elixir. Gonna have to hit Dicks this week. Looks like they stock Saucony and I have $100 in gift cards there. (I usually get my running shoes from a “specialty” store, but Dick’s seems to have really stepped up lately and carries a great range of shoes. Their “salespeople” don’t know jack, but I can live with that.)
As a former Adrenaline user myself for training (liked them a lot), I’ve transitioned to the slightly less supportive Ravenna & Ravenna 2 which I like even more. They’re slightly lighter, less medial posting and have a gentle upward curve at the toe for a nice toe off.
For racing all distances I LOVE the Racer ST5, and I know several people that train in those as lightweight trainers (including a certain Chrissie W who told me she loves those to train in at a recent run in Seattle!).
And I also run occasionally in the new Pure Cadences as well, inc. long runs and like them now that I’ve learned how to lace them (ie- loosely!)
Try the Adrenaline 11 (or 12 since its out now)…totally new cushioning system (DNA) than the 10
.
Sorry, no help here. Currently in the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 11. I don’t notice much difference from the 10th edition. I will never buy another pair of Mizunos. The fastest wearing out of any shoe I’ve owned…as in the sole wearing out…as in the rubber meeting the road wear…not the cushioning…terrible.
Based on what you’ve said here:
The Fastwitch would probably be too light, especially given your statement that the DS-Trainer didn’t feel like enough shoe for you.
For a similar amount of support, out of the Saucony line I’d be trying on the new Guide 5 (8 mm heel-toe drop, lighter, still plenty of cushioning), or the Mirage.
The Nike LunarGlide is more in-line with where the pronation control of the Elixir and the Adrenaline sit (a little further rear-foot) than compared to the two shoes described above from Saucony.
The K-Swiss Kwicky Blade Light would also work pretty well in the category.
I changed from the GTS 9 a couple of years back to the K-Swiss Blade Light, and they are lighter and I felt more comfortable running in them. Changed then to the Kwicky blades. Liked them at first (probably only because I paid more for them !) but after a few hundred Kms realised there was way too much arch support and padding under the toe box area for me. Just gone back to Blade Lights, won’t be changing shoe brand for a while now.
Brooks Ravenna 2 are great alternative! I’ve transitioned to them after being a diehard Adrenaline user.

It sounds like you’re not trying to go lighter - just looking for a good stability trainer? I’d take a good look at the new Saucony Guide 5’s - I have not tried them yet but they’re on my buy list.
I’ll pile on kudo’s to the Ravenna 2. I still run in the Adrenalines (I like the change to DNA in the 11 and 12 models), but I switch up with the Ravenna 2 as well, and they’ve become my marathon race she of choice.
