I keep killing headphones. Need help

I’ve had rough luck with running headphones as they die between 6-12 months and I’m thinking the culprit is my amount of sweat while running. I’ve killed Jaybirds, Samsung Galaxy’s, some other small brands, and just recently killed Beats Powerbeats.

Anyone have any recommendations on headphones that can take the abuse of running and sweat? Would prefer bluetooth if possible.

What is your music source?

Wired, Bluetooth, or either?

Are you open to a self-contained system (waterproof mp3 player)?

My Pixel phone. Currently bluetooth but at the moment my phone still has a jack to connect to headphones if needed. 100% using spotify. Open to a self contained system if can connect spotify.

For running, my preference right now is the regular Apple Airpods. Purchase with an AMEX to double warranty but I haven’t had a problem in Florida. After years and years of searching for an earbud, without success, I realized you don’t actually want an full in ear, earbud for running. I was skeptical at first but after seeing pro after pro with them, and I know they need to do their workouts and not fuss, that they were on to something. Still need to find an MP3 player that puts out a stronger signal though as I still experience some dropout.

On my treadmill I opted to go for cans as I saw on videos for Lionel and Jan frodeno. So far so good usually I have killed them by now. Give them a try I got plantronics ones for about 70.

If you can live with wires, the cheap fully waterPROOF earbuds available on Amazon work well.

Sweat won’t kill them, but eventually too many tugs on the wires will kill them ( but they are cheap).

Your sweat will kill anything and everything. I love my Phaiser bluetooth (BHS-730?) ear buds from Amazon. They are inexpensive and sound great. Get yourself a few pair!

Tayogo bone conduction swimmers headphones. First time any type of headphones have lasted me more than a couple months. 2 1/2 years and still going.

I have had the same problem. JBL Dives have been the best solution for me.

My sweat is so toxic that I have murdered not just earbuds but entire handlebar sets. Think of the xenomorph from Aliens, but my sweat is worse than their blood and I am somewhat uglier.

However, my Jabra Elite Pros have put up with years of indoor/outdoor running and indoor cycling, no matter how much of my breathtakingly corrosive sweat I have poured onto them. It is amazing they have lasted this long, they are like the cockroaches having picnics in Chernobyl’s basement.

Same problem here. Even supposedly “sweat-proof” buds killed within weeks.

The solution that’s worked for me for over a year now is Plantronics (now Poly) BackBeat FIT 3150. These are not in ear buds, so there’s not much noise isolation. But I prefer that when running anyway.

Heavy sweater here and the plantronics last the longest for me and you can almost always get them sub 50 on sale.

I also run with the backbeat ones as they are open so I can hear cars and such.

For the trainer I use waterproof cans or waterproof JABRa elites 65 which are great for sound isolation

I’ve had good luck with these Jabra Elite 65T’s

The cans definitely last longer than earbuds in sport versions. More distance from the sweat to the openings for the electronics

Aftershockz. We have the Titaniums, which they don’t make anymore. I’m not sure what in their current line up is similar.

I have the Plantronics Backbeat Fit, and they last forever. Like years-- the batteries die before the sweat kills them. The other great is the AirPods Pro. Those stay in ear way better than the originals, but they are spendy. They also last forever with sweaty runners.

I also went with aftershokz.
The sound quality won’t be the same as a good quality earbud, but its good enough and allows you to hear other noises around you.

Whatever you buy, get from best buy, buy the geek squad warranty

That means when they break (which they will), you get all your $$ back less a couple dollars for used warranty months

I’ve tried lots and they have all died (w exception of my AirPod Pro), so I’ve settled in w the Beats or Bose from BB.

+2 on Aftershokz

I have been using the Xtrainerz for about two years with zero issues. Easy to use, self-contained, sound quality more than good enough.

After each run, I simply run them under water and dry.

You mentioned Jaybirds, have you tried the Jaybird Vista? Those things have been practically indestructible for me. Once I dropped one in the mud while running, then stepped on it pushing it into the mud. I was amazed I was able to find it again. I just rinsed it off in a puddle and it worked fine. They market it as earth proof and I would agree.

Don’t bother with the Vista 2’s. DC Rainmaker says they are not worth the upgrade for running.
