…it’ll be my second IM. Basically helping out a friend who runs well, but doesn’t do those other pesky things. How has this sort of thing worked out for anyone?
While I would like to improve on last year’s time, I’ll be glad to finish the IM in reasonably good shape, not a huge deal, but obviously enough to a) go to the trouble of all that driving, debt etc. and b) to ask the question here…?
Take this for whats it worth. I haven’t done an IM yet. But, I am in for IMFL this year. I have the bike leg of the CAF race the sunday before IMFL. So, not only do I get to bike a half, then I get to hop on a plane and fly across the country. So, it will be a little late, but I’ll let you know how it goes. I would think you’ll be fine. Actually, wouldn’t you be doing about the same mileage any how a that point?
I did a 2K swim-90K aquabike race the weekend before IMLP and went pretty hard. The following weekend I PB’d…I think the aquabike is an excellent last workout…cleans out the “pipes” but you recover fast. Assuming you have had a good lead up training wise and are ripping and ready to go and have no injuries, I say, DO IT!
