I hijacked an iPod Nano

Stole the gf’s new Nano and went for a run. This thing is cool, but ear bud headphones suck for running. I was thinking Shuffle, but I don’t know now. With the silicone sleeve and the screen, this thing is great. Better than any MP3 I’ve ever used, regarding ease of use. Love the volume control.

Anyone with any comfortable earbud recommendations.

The three pair I have feel like spikes driven into my head, and continue to feel that way for hours after I take them out. After the third and most expensive pair felt the same way, I just stopped running with the MP3 which sucks because I could go much farther with the distraction of good tunes.

I borrowed one the other day - i never run with tunes - and it was awesome! I could barely tell it was there, except for the earbuds falling out. Why don’t they make these things for human ears??

I may buy one for the Mrs. this Christmas.

(Yeah, I said Christmas

Ya, I think the ear buds suck too. I tried out many a headphone until I found these:

CNET doesn’t like them, but check out the user reviews. I love them and my ears are hard to please. The foam does take a little getting use to, but they are great and cozy after you do! …and cheap, $10 on Amazon.

I bought my wife a Nano. Man, it is awesome. I used to think these things were just stupid. Now I actually look forward to riding my trainer in the a.m. Just tear the cranks of the bkie when I get rocking- i.e. this a.m.- pretty much all rolling stones ain’t to proud to beg, sad sad sad, you got me rocking, start me up, dance little sister, etc. Cool down with a james taylor and grateful dead. My tune for practicing an "attack’ is ch ch ch check it out by beastie boys. You will hit levels never seen with that tune ripping. What a purchase.

Oh, and I agree, the little headphones kinda blow, I am going to get something to replace.

I use a great pair of regular head phones that wrap around the back of my head. They are comfortable and always stay in place. I love them. I suggest you look at something other than ear buds if you actually want them to stay in your ears while you run.

After some searching, I bought the Creative EP 630. They the same as the Sharp MD-33 and the Sennheiser IE4, but sold cheaper. A lot of people think they are great, but there are some issues. While they sound very good when connected to my receiver, they lack bass when connected to my (non-ipod) mp3 player. You would have to try them before buying! Second, they block surrounding noise (like the Koss do). I don’t like that for running. And finally, you hear it when the cables rub against your clothing while running. The sound is transmitted through the cables like through a cord between tin cans. I guess this is a problem with many earplugs. But apart from these issues, I like them a lot!

i like the ear buds. i’ve been running and biking in them since this summer. They sound great, too.

For the past two year I have used the Sony MDR-J10’s. I have had not trouble with them at all. They are comfortable and so far have not worn out. I can say also that they have endured countless baths when I would poor water over my head during a run. Here is the link to them on Amazon:

PM me for an address to send your terrible ear buds to. All I know is they fit my ears like a good set of earbuds fit in ears they were custom made for. (damn…that was a terrible similie…my high school english teacher probably just died a little)

I use ear buds with no problem.

My battery on my mini just died, so I may need a Nano.

Oh I’m so looking for a good excuse to dump my Shuffle and get an Nano. Its stupid. It does everything. Its cute. But I’m in love with another…

I guess my post was a little too negative. I love these earphones, actually I’m using them right now. They fit perfectly.

Last night, I bought my daughter the iPod Video. When I offered to ‘qual test the hardware’ to ensure everything was fine, all I got was a bunch of whining.

I guess I’ll have to buy another… .

I was looking to get a Shuffle for the misses for christmas. can she swap out the ear phones?

Don’t want to spoil this if you are looking for an excuse to buy a nano  …but you can get a new battery for a mini fairly easily.

If you are somewhat technically inclined, you can order a new one and put it in yourself for about $20:

If not, you can send it to Apple for $67 f it’s older than a year. If it’s newer than that it’s even cheaper, check out Apple’s site:

What I use are not ear buds (can’t stand them, they hurt, every single pair) but ones that wrap on your ears, are like the old style head phones without the band across the top. They are great.

Yeah, they can use any headphone with a normal jack.

Yeah, they can use any headphone with a normal jack.
awesome. thanks.

I second the Sony earphones…sound quality isn’t as good as my buds but for running and exercising they are great. Just got them and they fit my heasd perfectly and stay in and on even under my toque…buds kept popping out when I wore my toque…it’s cold here now.
