I have tried to find out - why Sport Beans and not Jelly Belly?

I got some Sport Beans at HyVee and tried them…man oh man are they yummy. About the same as most of the other packs of gel at 100 calories and blah blah blah. Last night I picked up some mixed Jelly Belly at the store and noticed that the “Sport Beans” are about 300% more than the standard ones at the register. But for a very small bit of salt in the Sport Beans and no listing for “Natural fruit juice” that is in certain flavors of the regular I cant seem to find much variation but for packaging. In either case they are freaking tasty!

Anyone done the “Pepsi Challenge” with the Jelly Bellies as far as performance goes? Anyone find something that I didnt as pertaining to the regular as opposed to the “Sport” ones?

Oh…“Buttered Popcorn” is NAAAAAASTAY!

The Harry Potter ones they released a few years ago were pretty funky, had flavors like grass, booger, vomit, and mud just to name a few.
Were kinda fun to give em to people like they were normal jelly beans

From their site…

Sport Beans offer a balanced supply of electrolytes vital
for maintaining fluid balance. The 80 mg sodium /40 mg potassium split
is optimal in aiding fluid balance by enhancing water absorption and
water retention in cells.

I need to track it down…I have a few packages from the Sport ones…count for count they were about identical to the reguar ones. I am not comparing them to any product other than the regular beans. Seems to me that but for some salt the regular beans may be a great option for folks at about 1/3 the cost of the Sport beans.

I would be surprised if you noticed a difference between them. Go with the cheaper version, see what you think.

are the regular one made with HFCS? I know the sport beans are cane sugar.

Any old gummybear-type fruity things too. Same shit.

I would think drinking water would be better for that but, eh, what do I know?

water doesn’t provide electrolytes
.

but it sure does help “water retention and water balance in cells”
.

I make a point of gulping down a handful of jelly belly’s before every Friday 11:00 master swim. I have found they improve my performance by 27% Well except for the jalepeno ones…those just make me want to gag.

I often eat those little fruit snacks before swimming. I try to buy the shark shaped ones to help me swim faster.

as with all foods – you should avoid anything with high fructose corn syrup — this stuff is poison (okay a little dramatic)

Recent research (google this) shows that HFCS does not ellicit the same responses from your Pancreas and Liver that other sugars (glucose, sucrose, etc…). Among other problems, HFCS provides an increased/uncontrollable pathway for the synthesis of trigyclerides (fat cells) –

“Funky” for a reason; have you read the books?

sport beans do not have HFCS, fruit snack do. Cliff makes a nice version of fruit snacks made with cane sugar.

Follow with Goldfish crackers to maximize recovery and results.

Gummies work fine for me as well; I have found Sport Beans, normal jelly beans, plain ol kid snack pack gummies, and Shot Bloks to all do the same thing for me.

Sweedish fish work well for me too!

There are 2 flavors of Sport Beans that have caffeine in them too.

Mike & Ike - 25 MG of sodium per serving. 4.5 pound bag at BJ’s is $6.99.
