I got a pony for Christmas!

Three hundred bucks for a 12 year old Welsh palomino in need of a good home and herd. How could I pass that up.

Just look at this handsome boy.

Pretty boy! What’s his name?

Twinkie

Rides well, no bad habits, apparently quite a character.

That’s a cute pony

We’re got a 9 and 5 year old who want to learn to ride but are scared of our other horses so he fits the bill. Not inconceivable that we could turn a nice profit on him once we get him tuned up and jumping.

But we’re likely to just keep him for the duration.

Careful, you are on the edge of a bottomless money pit.

My nephew bought a house next to people who have horses and go to a lot of riding competitions. It started with buying bags of carrots to feed the horses across his back fence. So far he hasn’t decided he needs his own horse. But he has really gotten into it.

Maybe you and CLM can start buying race horses together.

We’ve got three horses already, all the tack, room to graze, a hayfield for winter supply, and a vet in the family. So most of the cost has a already been assumed or offset. Sort of like having a 5th kid.

Except sometimes that kid turns out to be the chaos. Same has been said of ponies.

The new pony needs a friend.

So now you need some Scottish Highland cows.

My wife will insist we visit.

Kids have been on me for years to get one.

If my wife brought one home I wouldn’t say no. But a donkey has been at the top of my list for a while now.

My wife and I took a week vacation in north Georgia and the Carolinas about a week before Helene devastated some of the area. We stayed Airbnb. One of the deciding factors for one place was that they had Highland cows. She was thrilled.

Congratulations, he’s a beauty!!!

lucky my wife didn’t see a deal like that! we have 2 but 3 stalls and so that last one would be filled!

Only draw back is 2 horses is x amount of work 3 is not 1/3 more it seems like it is 2x the work! so that might factor into her decision.

Must be a bit cold in your area, he has a good coat on. He has a kind eye, that would be the factor that would melt the heart!

Funny, as cliché as it sounds, when I was a kid I had a dream of having a palomino pony. Not just any horse, it had to be palomino.
Remember when Blazing Saddles came out? My first movie star crush:

He’s lived here in the valley since forever and never blanketed, so should be relatively low maintenance. He does have a nice thick coat.
