Guy on bike (all fitted out in his bike clothing) comes flying through an intersection (he has the red light / we have a green light) - doesn’t even bother slowing down. I saw him coming and stopped about a foot from his front wheel. WTF is wrong with people.
He knew you saw him. And he knew you wouldn’t hit him.
His epitaph will probably read:
‘I thought he saw me, it would have been a PR ride’

Updated that for you to reflect the latest 21st century developments …
This summer I saw a fixie rider (no helmet duh) riding down State Street no handed while texting. A few cars were stopped at stop signs and luckily saw him and waited.
All I can say is life is cheap to some people.
going for a Strava segment fast time? Guys around here have created quite a few segments that go through lights and/or stop signs. Crazy.

So you wanted to kill him? WTF is wrong with you?

+1…all this talk about all the recent deaths and you thought is was appropriate/warranted to even think about hitting a cyclist, regardless of what they were doing.

Weastech!!! That’s State St for you!
BTW, this is Cam from the City Beaches!!! What up bro?!?!?!
Neither what he did nor what you did was warranted.
Hey Cameron-good to hear from ya! I’m just doing my year year of tri’s and hoping to improve next year. I’m living right by Spring Harbor which is too weedy to even get in a OWS. lol
Hope things are well!
Was it a strava segment?
I am not supporting this guy but lots of stupid people do stupid things on the road whether it be on bike or in a car. You’ve never seen a driver blatantly blow a red light? Did you want to hit them to “teach them a lesson”? Acting like a typical anti cyclist driver isn’t going to fix anything. Of course cyclists should obey traffic laws, (mostly for self preservation) with common exceptions not coming to a full stop at stop signs and waiting for red lights to turn green when there is no car in sight. Not to get off target here though. You wanting to hit them as someone that rides a bike is stupid as well. Drivers give cyclists shit for no reason every day. Drivers seem to have the ability to completely disassociate a human element to someone on a bike and for some unknown reason they hate bikes. They don’t realize it might be their neighbor that they actually like, their doctor accountant, priest, landscaper etc… that is sitting on that bike enjoying all the joys that exist when riding a bike.
For the reason that more and more cyclists and pedestrians give a shit about the law where I live, I seriously consider buying a dashcam.
After coming close several times to hitting a cyclist who gave shit about the law and then goes on to flip me off or even threaten violence I see this as necessary insurance to get the situation documented if something goes seriously wrong.
Any recommendations on what to get?

What about all the cars that have been doing illegal things? Be sure to include your speedo in the camera shot.
I have this model in both my cars:
http://www.ebay.com/…;hash=item41611d151b
50 bucks, runs when the car is on, loops over the video (about 6 hrs on a 16G microSD).
And yes, if you submit the video to a cop, they will issue tickets if the infraction is clear (say the plate out loud just in case it’s blurry in the video).
You can get blackviews for 200 or so, 1080p, motion sensing video as well as GPS/speed stuff but I’m fine with the basics.
Can that be modified to go on the front/back of a bike?

No, it’s constant 12V powered - when you turn off the car it shuts down 5 seconds later (no bat).
I’ve been looking at a few more expensive ones with a battery/brain you carry in the back pocket with a small pinhole camera on the helmet - like a go-pro but cheaper and more automatic, loop overwriting files, etc - not a lot out there. Soon - especially if it can leverage your smart phone to be the storage medium.
I agree that you could likely find a smart phone App to help accomplish this task, The only problem is I would want to cover the front and back.
No worries.
I got a Contour 1080 for the bike.
Plenty of cyclists on it breaking the law when I commute with it.
Like ten of them per one car running a dark yellow… I tend to give a couple secs on green when I am on my bike.
Not many cars running reds. But I keep vigilant.
More p.o.'d by cyclists stealing my right of way nowadays (on bike and in my car).
Thanks for the recommendation. Looks exactly like what I am looking for.
