Anyone have any clever recommendations for a front end hydaration system for a Speed Concept? I am picking mine up today (totally psyched) and thinking about how I will accessorize it already. I already opted for the Bontrager frame mounted aero bottle. I will also utilize a Garmin 310XT to read power from a Quarq. Bike will be used primarily for 1/2 IM and IM distance racing, so I need to get more fluid on it, I think one more bottle will suffice. I like to the idea of an aero bar mounted system, but wondering how to pull off the 310 placement and the bottle. Any clever ideas out there. I am scanning for photos, but haven’t really looked that hard yet. Thanks for any thoughts.
Look at the plethora of pics here: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=2844072
.
It may depend on your aerobar placement and length but I used one of the profile design accessories that is for computers and mounted it right behind my pad clamps and tilted my 500 a little forward so I can read it while areo and then in front of the bar clamps I am using an xlab torpedo mount for hydration. I had to cut the carbon plate down but I had to do that before as I have a short reach but still found a way to make it all work.
I can post pics later
Here’s mine (and several others posted on there as well): http://forum.slowtwitch.com/forum/Slowtwitch_Forums_C1/Triathlon_Forum_F1/My_Chris_Lieto-style_water_bottle_setup_P3138413

Horizontal bottle between the forearms.
After that I’d wait to see what the Torhans 20 system looked like.
Done some work talking with Carl at Trek, experimenting with different set ups etc on my wifes SC.
We’ve settled on a horizontally mounted bottle between the bars, the Bonty aero frame mounted bottle on the down tube, and one normal bottle mounted center behind the seat. Her special needs will have another Bonty Aero in it. We’ll use this for IMNZ next week.
One issue that threw it’s head up just yesterday - the Bonty Aero, as you’re drinking from it, if you don’t ‘normalize’ for want of a better word - the pressure, after every time you’ve drunk from it get’s thinner due to negative pressure. This leads to it falling out when hitting even minor bumps in the road.
I guess it’s just a case of letting the empty space refill with air / blowing in it, to stop this happening.
SB.
I originally planned on a horizontal bottle between the bars but had some challenges getting the bottle out with the stock bars on my 9.9. I picked up a TorHans Aero 30 when I was in Portland last week. Its a little larger than I would like but seems to be okay based on my initial ride this morning. I’ve got it up as high as I can trying to minimize the impact on the front end of the SC. Pretty interested to see the Aero 20 when it arrives. I’m doing on the Charleston 1/2 at the end of April and as of right now, I’m thinking the Aero 30 (or 20) upfront with a standard cage and bottle on the seat tube.
Did Bontrager stop making the aero bottle that hung between the aero bars? I can’t locate it on their site.
