So anyone here currently or previously live in Huntsville, AL? There is a very real possibility I may be taking a job there and I just wanted to see what the local scene is like. Any comments/thoughts/suggestions/opinions on well… everything, are greatly appreciated.

There is a great sprint race near there in August, and you are close to Birgmingham and Nashville. Check out www.team-magic.com for races in the area an links tri related groups/companies in the area.

I live here in Huntsville. Do a search on the Spring City Triathletes and Spring City Cycling Club and Huntsville Track Club. Plenty of athletes here. Great cycling scene. Plenty of triathletes, but the club has been floundering some, due to low participation. I’m doing XTERRA Southeast this weekend. Both Birmingham and Nashville are about an hour away.

I love it hear, it’s a great mid-sized city…want to buy a house with 4 acres just outside town? Very private! Good price! I’m actually moving into the house next door very soon. There’s a few other Huntsvillians that hang out on ST. Holler back at me and I can tell you more…PM or whatever.

Thanks for the info guys. I did see Team Magic’s website and it looks like they put on some nice events.

Any more information you can offer up about the social scene? I drove through downtown when I was there for an interview but that was during the day so I didnt really get to check out what it was like at night. I’m just trying to find out if there is much to do for a youngish single guy. Unfortunately I spent more time in Birmingham than Huntsville when I was down interviewing. Thanks again!

We mostly just hang out with our cousins…I mean wives…was a cousin:) Then we just count who has the most teeth and I usually win because I can actually count. I lose the game though, because I’m missing the most teeth.

Ah…the good ole social scene. depends on the scene. Lots of churches with thriving singles groups if that’s your scene and lots of bars with bands if thats your thing too. I met my wife at the Y!
