Htfu lp

So this is the deal, since I am not crazy enough to do a full Ironman and my friend is, I am volunteering so I get the full feel of the big race without all that training. I will be doing the bike check in Sat, 10AM to 3PM. I will have some black HTFU wrist bands for the STer’s that do this race, about 15 or so. So if you see me (bunch of bands on my wrist), let me know and I’ll give you one. They are guaranteed to get you through the madhouse of a swim, leg burning bike and endless pavement pounding run.
You guys & gals are F’n crazy. Good luck to all and see you on the 21st.

Thanks for volunteering! I already have an HTFU wrist band, care of one of my friends, and have been wearing it a lot lately.

You really should hold onto those and give them out at Mile 13 of the run right after we do the icky out and back and then go by the finish line to do our second loop. That is when most people (myself included) really need to HTFU

See you there!

Dude, I will be looking for you! Keep an eye out for a black Guru Crono w/ Zipp cockpit and wheels.

That would be considered ‘receiving outside assistance’ and is grounds for disqualification.

Anyway, IMLP is just a relaxing day in the Adirondacks. That’s why they named a lounge chair after them. Everyone just needs to put on a better mental attitude.

Much like touching the Olympic medal is grounds for a DQ.

OK, so drop them on the ground and let people pick them up if they can bend over at that point

Better yet, bring an Adirondack chair, put the HTFU wrist bands on it and let people pick them up. The choice is either to sit in the chair or HTFU.

Is it? I thought that outside assistance required giving or receiving equipment or physical support. Well, I guess I’ll stay away from the medal-wielding temptress if I see her this year. Rub my Olympic medal indeed! I should have known it was a trap.

I’m volunteering as well. I just received my assignment as Bike Marshall.i.e. penalty tent at the “ski jump” area from 1p.m. till??. Be good out there ya’ll. I DON’T want to see you there, however I do want to see everyone finish. That’s where i’ll be after volunteering. Then signing up for 2009…yay!

I want one!

Thanks for your help.

But isn’t the water a little cold for an ironman triathalon race?

When will the race numbers be posted?

I’ve started my taper and my sex drive/hunger/desire to sleep has increased/decreased/not changed.

The 18 day weather forecast looks like it is going to be quite a day! Quite a day, indeed.

Serious question - should I put powercranks on my bike the day before I race?

I’ll be looking for you. I’d love one of those!

Thanks for your help. You may not be saying that later after you see how I handle the bikes

But isn’t the water a little cold for an ironman triathalon race? My understanding is that Mirror Lake has a solar cover, so it should be warm enough

When will the race numbers be posted? They are not using numbers this year. It’s the honor system.

I’ve started my taper and my sex drive/hunger/desire to sleep has increased/decreased/not changed. The problem is thet you tappered too soon/too late and your traing was too hard/too easy and your spending not enough/too much time on tri forums

The 18 day weather forecast looks like it is going to be quite a day! Quite a day, indeed. Yes, we will have weather this year

Serious question - should I put powercranks on my bike the day before I race? Na, leave them off, I’ll take care of them or it or whatever they are.

Um, yeah. Not really sure which is sarcasm and which is serious, if any.

I did IMLP in 2004 and thought the water was fine-to-too-warm. With the suit on, you’ll likely be hot after two laps. I will be.

Numbers get posted July 7th. You should have gotten a ‘last chance to drop out before bib numbers assigned’ email last week.

It’s a good thing you’re tapering but you aren’t any sexier, probably eat too much already, and sleep more than is healthy.

You should put PC’s on immediately so you can do your 150 mile ride/30 mile run with them Sunday, and buy a new saddle the week of the race. Also, you’ll be a lot more aero if you take out the 25mm spacers on your stem. This should only be done for racing or the benefit is lost.

Good luck out there.

so !
I will have fresh coffee and muffens on my surfboards durring the swim
at the turn around
if your race is shot early in the swim I have case of beer in a cooler on board to
just look for the lifeguard with a black wetsuit on a white surfboard

Thom

Steve is hot even before he enters the water.

His race number will probably be 69.

He has stick arms like some puppet, but he swims OK.

I’m buying PC’s at the expo and trying them out in the race.

Steve, you rock!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I was looking for the HTFU wristbands at bike checkin, but, could not find them. So, I was doing the race today. If you haven’t heard, it was raining and miserable the entire day! My Achilles tendonitis was flaring up like crazy, given the cold weather and I was not sure I could do the second loop. I turn the corner to start the second loop, in serious trouble, and I hear a spectator yelling “720! 720!” I look over and this guy is running like crazy down the sidewalk and pushes his way through the crowd. He say “black wristband!” and hands me one.

I needed this! I had a painful second loop, but, there was NO WAY I was going to DNF after this. Seriously man, that was TOO COOL! Thank you so much! You are the man! It truly, truly meant a lot to me!

Slowtwich is a great community of people!
