HR Strap for Ergomo

Just installed/calibrated/starting using my Ergomo Pro. Worked great today EXCEPT the HR feature. I tested the computer using a Nike HR strap, and the computer picks up the HR signal just fine (new battery in the strap by the way!). When placed in the cradle on my bike and me on the bike…no HR signal. We made a pit stop for the small bladder riders and I took the computer out of the cradle and placed it about 4" away from the HR strap…BINGO! Picked up the HR signal just fine. So either the strap is crappy or the Ergo is not too good at picking out the signal.

Ideas? Suggestions? I tried mounting the Ergo on the stem of the bike…still no joy with picking up the signal. I was considering trying perhaps a better quality HR strap? Like a Polar strap. Beyond that I am out of ideas and the FIT guys (new US distributors of Ergomo) have yet to respond to my email inquiry…

Thanks in advance.

I have an Ergomo pro as well. It’s mounted on the flat part of my aerobars (my stem is too short to accomodate the enormous computer). The only HRM strap signal it picks up is my “new” Polar strap and only if I’m on the aerobars. I’ve tried the HRM strap from my Garmin and an older Polar strap without any signal pick-up at all. I think it may have to do with whether the strap is “coded” or “uncoded”. My older Polar strap (circa 2001) is uncoded–no Ergomo signal pick-up. However, the new Polar strap (the one that works) has “coded” stamped on the back of the transmitter.
