HR data from today's crits

Wish I had some power data to share, but no power meter YET. I know power is much more meaningful than HR data but thought this might be fun to share anyway.

Race 1 - mst 30+ 4/5:

Avg. 178 - Max 195

avg. temp 79

Race 2 - snr. 3/4

Avg. 176 - Max 198

Avg. temp 98

Needless to say today hurt! My stomach and legs are paying for it right now. To give you an idea of how relative this is - for a 17 min TT I averaged 180 and maxed at 191 in similar heat and almost puked afterward. Being with others forces you to push beyond what you think you are capable of. You either push the edge and hang or get dropped. Also interesting to note the fluxuation in max and how variable that can be on a given day - all the more reason to get that Power Tap!

curious,

It made me look at some of mine:

7/17/05 156ave 175max

6/12/05 164ave 178 max

6/5/05 1 155ave 175max 2 152ave 176max

5/29/05 152ave 177max

4/3/05 154ave 174max

Amazingly consistent! All of mine from this season are very close. I wonder if i’m getting faster…

What Jason is too modest to say is he got fourth(?) in his first race as a cat 4 . Woohoo! Not sure about the second. I was pack fill in my two races.

My HR was fairly higher than normal in the heat yesterday…(I did a 2-man TT in the desert…about 85 degrees at 8:am)

The first 15 minutes: HR was 201 average

Minute 15-30ish: 198 average

minute 30-54 minute: settled down to a 196 average

Felt a brief bout of neausea at the awards ceremony… but, generally ok though.

Thanks Steve - good to see you out there. Second race was a little faster and took 6th, so I was pretty stoked to place with 3s in the race. Followed the Team Spine guy out but could not quite get around. Only 14th today in Albany - messed up tactically near the end, but still a great weekend of racing! We’ll see you out there.
