What do you all think is a reasonable standard of trueness
for a disk wheel? I just got a new FalconSports Accel II
disk and it’s probably 1/16" out of true. I can’t tell exactly,
but I know thats it’s vastly less true than any regular
wheel I have.
I returned the first Accel disk I got because it was at least
1/4" off. I’m hesistant to return another one for fear that
I’m just being too picky. What think yee?

p.s. also posted this to the somewhat disfunctional bicyclesports site.
Return the damn thing! Yes, it should be perfect when new unless it's being sold as a factory second. Get you money back and order a Renn. Mine is one of the first 575's and it is perfectly true and round.
i doubt it’s 1/16 out. it may look 1/16 out between your brake pads but 1/16 is .0625 of an inch. falcons specs on their web site says rollout tolerance is .025 and roundness to .030. if it is .0625 out it would be unrideable. we use the same tolerances but we very rarely have a wheel over .020 and if it is over .020 we usually send it to a pro that gets a discount =). wheels that are close to .030 look bad and anything over .040 looks like a train crash. for reference .039 is ONE millimeter.
Thanks Frank and everyone else for your help. I took the wheel by the LBS today. They say it’s 2 millimeters off. So it’s going back. I think for good this time. This wheel and Falconsports have been a dissappointment to me on several counts. Too bad, since Joel seems like a nice enough guy.
