How to tell if it's a Cervelo P4 or P4 Evo?

Anyone know if:
A) This Is a standard P4 or a P4 Evo?
B) Is it hard to make it UCI compliant? (Does it even matter for local TT’s?) I think I just have to change the bottle…

Thanks in advance!

  1. It’s a P4 Evo

-It has cable stops going into the top tube (a key EVO feature). The original P4 had cable stops all the way in the down tube (which are fairly annoying to work on).

-The original P4 didn’t have gap between the bottle and the down tube cut out (check my profile picture of my ‘original’ P4 for comparison). The extra gap on the EVO p4 allows for a standard (round) bottle to be mounted there.

  1. To make it UCI compliant:
-you’ll need an updated (3:1) seat post.
    -ditch the aero bottle
-In all likelihood, it doesn’t matter for a local TT.

Thanks beston, great answer. I thought it must have been an Evo.

No problem. So have you bought it yet? It’s a great bike. I wouldn’t easily part with mine, even though it is the pre-EVO version.

Your bike looks awesome!
What is the pouch on the top tube behind the headstem?

I haven’t got it yet. Hopefully I will pick it up on the weekend. Glad to hear that you love it.

You can find the bag here.

The only thing to keep in mind with the P4 is that the rear seat stays are narrow and don’t have much clearance for wide, torroidal shaped wheels. There’s not enough clearance for my He’d 90 C2 rear wheel. Having said that, some people have reported using Flo wheels (including discs) without issue.

Thanks again! It comes with Zipp 808s so I will check out the clearance but assume that they should fit ok.

Non ‘fire-crest’ 808’s should fit just fine.

The P4 is tight but our customers have been successful using the FLO DISC with it. The tightest part of the frame is actually the brake pads. Most have shaved those down a little to get the wheel to fit.

I hope that helps,

My HED jet c2 is fine at the brake pad, but the fairing rubs ever so slightly against the brake mounts (the brake boss area). Has anyone reported issues with flo wheels rubbing against the brake mounts?

I’d rather have one of your discs to match my front wheel.

To my knowledge no. Josh Amberger rode the P4 with our disc without any issues.
