How to spell the plural form of the word "pro" when used as a noun in place of the word professional

It’s pros, not pro’s, and not prose.

Good. People need two fix they’re spelling airs. Its starting too get on my nerves.

Your a proe among pro’s with prowse!

It’s become quite the fad to use 's to indicate plural…and it ain’t changin anytime soon…

.

if I got several grades of A and several grades of B, did I get

As and Bs

or A’s and B’s

?

Apostrophes there are common. Sounds like the first is correct though.

And what if I am using lower case letters (I actually had something like this typed for a calc paper recently)
some series of a and some series of b

“be careful of the a’s and b’s”
or “be careful of the as and bs”

The second is so much harder to read and comprehend.

It’s pros, not pro’s, and not prose.
Professionals.

“be careful of the a’s and b’s”
or “be careful of the as and bs”.
Or: «be careful of the a-s and the b-s»? (This would be correct in some languages, although I don’t know if that’s the case for English.)

Technically you are correct, but:

When I read “pros” I read a short “o”

When I read “pro’s” I read a long “o”

What language? Interesting. I can’t recall any instances in English where I’ve seen that.

Wait a minute, I just got beat up for not “spelling” this correctly.

I’m definetly carefull of the bs here

Actually, “pro” has an irregular plural: “pr0n.”

I’m reading other graduate students’ thesis proposal drafts right now.

I have a question:

WHEN DID WE STOP TEACHING WRITING?! these are horrible… the ideas are fine, the presentation and writing and grammar and sentences are horrible.

Maybe it’s the fact that they’re physics people proposals

Think you’ve got it bad? One of my supervisors thinks that “drawer” is spelled “draw.”

I’m all for starting up something like the Gideons, except that instead of Bibles, we’d distribute copies of The Elements of Style.

I’m trying to figure out how these people even passed the writing section of the GRE.

bad writing AND physics. Double torture.

The problem is that in middle school now teachers try to teach literature rather than grammar and because of that few people learn correct grammar.

And WRT the OP, he is correct, the plural of “pro” should be “pros” not “pro’s”. “Pro’s” would refer to the possessive of “pro” as in “a pro’s bike” or “a pro’s wetsuit.” If, OTOH, we are talking about something owned by multiple pros, we would use “pros’”. An example of this would be, “The pros’ bike times in Clearwater were really fast!”

first grade around these parts yah hey don’t you know.

My daughter wrote a nicely illustrated 3-page story this weekend about some ciodys. Without the pictures, I’d have had no idea what ciodys were. They seems to encourage phonetic writing instead of grasping correct spelling of words. Great to get them writing, but then it makes it a little more challenging to teach them the correct spelling. It kind of dumbs down the more advanded kids, as they have the ability to learn the correct way from the start, but are not shown that way. I tell her, and my son, the correct spelling when I seet this and they keep asking and repaeting until it is burned in their skulls. I don’t push that, I just tell them once and they take off on their own.

The ex and I used to always say words backwards to keep things from them, but that doesn’t work anymore, as they are beginning to master that as well.

now then, what are ciodys?

I’m guessing they are “coyotes”, right?

yes

apparently some have been eating cats in the city(or so the kids tell me)

daughter made up a nice treasure hunt for me to do with her after dark outside, and then she must have remembered this as she asked about them and decided she wanted to do the hunt in the light.

she writes many nice little stories, unfortunately, i need to ask for help in reading them

son came home all happy with a spelling test, but it seems teh teacher was in a hurry to grade them and missed two mistakes. both dealing with that whole i before e thing. for some reason, he thinks studying for a test is cheating.(shakes head)
