How to replace silicone gripper on garment

I have a pair of aero calf guards, and the silicone gripper has come off, and they now slide down the calf to my ankle when riding. Does anyone have suggestions on how to replace the silicone gripper that holds them up?

I did a minor google search and saw a guy thinning out silicone caulking with mineral spirits to apply to the garment, but the thought of the mineral spirits coming in contact with my skin kinda puts me off this particular diy. Any suggestions are welcome.

Mix mineral spirits & clear 100% silicone from hardware but you have to mix just about right. I did it and worked great. Watch this.

I cut down some worn out winter tights to make calf warmers. I used a similar technique to the video below except I used just neat silicone as I wanted it to be more elastic, if I did it again I would mask off the area I didn’t want any silicone on. I think I used a couple of water bottles to stretch them over, and sprayed with water to speed up the setting.

Mineral spirits is highly evaporative, I’d be surprised if there was any left on the garment by the time the silicone has cured.

I had a pair of run shorts that didn’t come with leg grippers and they rode up. I applied a thin coat of silicone caulk, now they work great. I did not use any mineral spirits.
