How to get the most from HGH

So from what I understand, HGH is released when you sleep. I was wondering if anyone new of any published research about how long it takes for HGH to start being released once you go to sleep or during what stages of sleep the most amount of HGH is released. Is there a limit to the amount your body releases over a certain amount of time? If I sleep for 13 hours does that mean that I will be more recovered than if I sleep for 9 (on a regular basis)? More importantly, I was thinking about implementing time for a nap in the middle of the day if it would help me more fully recover from morning workouts (given the 9-13 hours of sleep). Is more sleep always better in order to maximize the benefits of HGH?

You must have a great job! I don’t know of many that allow time for training, sleeping 9-13h per night and napping.

arginine, ornithine, lysine, glutamine… some select amino acids, taken as a supplemen before bed time can help with the release of HGH on a more “limited” sleep schedule.

I’m a student on break for the summer so I have as much time to train as I want. My job was kind enough to drop half of my hours off the schedule (starving student indeed), so I barely work 12 hours a week. My body can’t absorb any more training volume/intensity so I’m trying to modify my recovery time to get the most out of my workouts.

There really isn’t any good evidence that HGH is even performance enhancing in anyway.

That said, powerlifting lore says doing heavy squats releases HGH and can have good effects.

From, The Cyclist’s Training Bible (3rd ed.) by Joe Friel…

“Sleeping and working out have a synergistic effect on fitness: Each can cause the release of growth hormone from the pituitary gland. Growth hormone speeds recovery, rebuilds muscles, and breaks down body fat. By training twice daily and taking a nap, the dedicated rider gets four hits of growth hormone daily resulting in higher levels of fitness.”

“While we sleep, human growth hormone is released in spurts…Professionals, with few demands on their time than training, usually include naps to get their daily dose. The rest of us need to get to bed early every night. The younger you are, the more rest you need. Junior riders should be getting nine to ten hours daily.”

There was an old weight lifting legend that the majority of HGH released at night was released in the first 45 minutes of sleep. Based on this it was widely believed that a 45 minute nap midday would double the amount of HGH in your system. Don’t know how true this is but it jives with my experiences.

well you can always buy it. But if you are in school you are kind of young. just buy it and take it after your work out with a ton of carbs. that should do it. then you can train, rest and recover like the Pro’s!

uhhhhh duhhh, inject it!!
